Meanwhile, in the closet, Queen Sour Stomper finally can come into her own

This is her, five full weeks old at day 35, standing 73cm tall

View attachment 3807913

and this is her song

This plant has shown me such an impulsive joy of living, intensely, totally in the moment
"This is it, your only one moment in time, don't be afraid to ever love" is what she was singing these past days ... 50cm growth - in width as well! - in 10 days... you really gotta love life to do that!
not complaining - yet haha :bigjoint:
Some cheap blurple panels or cfl for side lighting would really kick that thing in overdrive. Looks good.

Well looking at those pistils surely she's going to stop growing and put all her effort into making buds now?! But who knows with that wonderfully weird strain!
And ooooo you've got the quality ratchet hangers that I want for my SCROG screen, i've got 2 for my light but cannot for the life of me remember where I got them from, I thought they came with my old Adjust a Wing reflector. I've just got 4 shite ones for now, where you have to manually press the ratchet feature!
Horrid thing. lol
Yeah actually I do think she maaay slow down a bit, but I thought that yesterday and the day before too haha
we shall see! She better not just get all leggy, I want some nice amount of nugs from her, maybe a little closet improvement here or there? :bigjoint:

It is weird, how different the rollamajigs are in quality tho, I have 2 different kinds of those, and these with the black strings work way better though they're pretty much identical. go figure

Thanks! :D
Mmm yeah I can see your thoughts! May do that indeed, OTOH I was thinking to spread her out more once she stops #@!§* stretching lol
somethings got to change in the next days thats for sure

oh I just remembered I have the 4th COB, it's mounted solo... may stick that in somewhere haha
The plant mass definitely would justify adding more light than planned (just 100W in flower), but 200? not quite sure

The big monster haha, impressive strain this one! Has she started showing any signs of flowering yet, or do you think she will start as soon as she has stopped shooting up? And great song, just listened to it, not heard it before!
that whole album is good beginning to end, I've been telling people about them for months
really good tempo changes, and the lyrics are well written
go get the new chevelle album too
north corridor

Yeah red sun rising are awesome!
Careful though, they're just as addictive as the Royal Bloods :bigjoint:

This one I dedicated to my daughter, she's young and tired and free too lol
But she's super determined! 8)
Fuck, her college workload is something else...

It was a great moment in an otherwise shitty day! Blood Hands, Little Monster and then the slow start to Loose Change which then has the quick key change and massive bass and drums and rift, love it!
Yep me too, it's rough and dirty - like kicking trash in an alley wearing boots and faded flares lol :-P

Pondering how this grow is going to progress, and taking you guys' feedback into consideration
Her unexpected growth does pose some challenges:

Firstly, there's the question of light.
Since she's so wide now already, adding side lights would be pretty tight.
So I've decided to get that light onto her leaves from the top by spreading her out more, removing strategic leaves.
AND I remembered that my light cycle is actually only 16/8.
So I'll let her keep the 150W (which is more than she was going to get at the expected height of ~60cm already) and will increase light duration to 18/6 first. It'll be good for the temperatures too, as the nights are getting cold.

And then, the relationship pot to plant mass has tipped, so I'm going to want to pay good attention to feeding....
Possibly I should have gone easier on those chrorophyll juices, seeing they contained the tips of that voluptuously growing tomato plant? :eyesmoke: buahaha

But well, what next?
I have kelp. But not sure... there are a few yellowing tips on the plant (huh? nute burn, or what else could this be saying?), been looking at them for a few days, with a little voice whispering, it was the kelp, but I'm not convinced either way
P1030421.JPG P1030416.JPG

And on the other side, on more recent growth, I am beginning to see slight discolorings and spots.

Water with some CalPhos?

Also I've treated her to some really badly done LSTing, especially on the left side, she's all bandaged up
So an aloe foliar may be in order tonight.
Definitely after lights out, the other day I didn't think how the lights are really close to the leaves now, so maybe what I'm taking as starting calmag? issues is just damage from that foliar...

What I'd actually REALLY like to give her right now would be an ACT, top and bottom, ha
My replacement worms arrived and are quite lively, but they're nowhere near providing me with anything I can use yet. ;)

So, what nutrient feeds are beneficial in flower again, and mild enough as not to overload her, just in case those tips mean that?

it's a

Pineapple express (fast buds) day 50 (~2 weeks to go)
9 colas, LST only
in
3rd generation notill topdressed with compost/eggshell/neem & 4cm quartz sand
2x AACT (bacterial dominant & protozoan-heavy)
alfalfa-buckwheat SST added 2 weeks ago

I'm pretty happy with her!

So, really, what the hell do I do with this stuff?
Happy for all your ideas!

You know, it's been a year since I decided to grow my own indoors and landed here on my quest to replicate the outdoors in my little closet (it was a hazy question at the time, no weed involved!).
It was here at RIU that I turned my attention to the soil, I mean REALLY looked at it for the first time. Thanks to you guys I got to know about the soil food web and it has changed my outlook upon -- just about everything!

I've had my dark times, in which all hope and trust in humanity was lost, but communities like ours here, they are restoring that in me.
We can and we will solve the world's problems in our gardens :)
Thanks so much for being on this journey too!

So in my beginning days at RIU, I saw lots and lots of these pics, along with crazy-sounding recipes, and me going, omg really?
It was witches brew corner haha
But lo, today, on my countertop, I've got my own:

Isn't it beautiful? :P
Life! you can just see it! and it feels so natural making these, they just have to be beneficial, right?
Even if I don't even understand a fraction of what I'm doing there haha

Cheers! :bigjoint:
I followed the recipe on logical gardener i believe .........im stoned so i apologize.......started in late august early sept, and i forgot about it under the sink........its still there in a sealed mason jar........my question is how can we tell how potent it is?

Yeah we're a far throw from understanding it all, though I'd say we do know enough to harness the power of nature by simply offering a maximum of choice to the plant and entrusting her with the rest. Because, yeah, the plant selects for those microorganisms that provide the nutes it needs in that moment (still trying to absorb the fact that these processes happen in seconds, whole generations of bacteria flowing and ebbing, wow!). The condition being: that those microorganisms are around

I think unlearning certain notions is more important to achieving this than actually knowing the the specifics of single microorganisms (as in who provides which nutrients), and I constantly catch myself thinking in the wrong direction even though I've never used fertilizers in the sense of the moron farmer  It's crazy how pervasive the mechanistic world view - which IMO is at the bottom of the chemical interpretation of plant life - is! Add to that the subtle pressure of mostly growing under stealth conditions, making us especially interested in getting all we can out of those tiny gardens... So thanks for saving me from myself, once again? :bigjoint:

So taking another step back.
All the nutrients a plant could ever want ARE in the soil.
We just need to provide a rich and diverse pool of microorganisms, from which those will thrive that like the soil conditions (temperature, humidity, aeration), and the plant will additionally select for those that are useful to it.
So basically we're set once we have that diversity of soil life going.

Knowing this, why would I ask such a question? Because I would like to maximize, and while my soil life is getting better and better, I still see room for improvement.
The composts I have been using have been mainly bacterial/amoeba-dominant, and my soil, while it has gotten really bouncy and spongey, was still less fungal last time I checked (maybe I should recheck haha, last time was in August).
So maybe that improvement will come when I get that part of the microbial pool better represented?

But what can I do in the meantime, maybe even promoting fungal expression (assuming I have enough spores in there). That's when I turn to these brews and juices hoping for magic, whereby I am really liking the feel of the SSTs and my improvised smoothies most - maybe also because of the Norwegian Herwig Pommeresche.

He is all about the "humusphere" and Raoul H. Francé's "edaphon" (=soil life, term coined at the turn of the 20th century), references Lynn Margulis and all them, and is convinced that feeding plants LIVE matter (fresh, not composted, fermented or anything) is the best way to go, better than compost, because it provides large molecules, mitochondria, chloroplasts.... for the plant to "eat" directly.
The basis for this being the ability of plant roots to perform endocytosis, and the principle of endosymbiosis, which Hugo Schanderl proposed happens all the time - when a cell "dies", its parts like mitochondria can wander off and form new organisms..
So Pommeresche collects his kitchen scraps, throws them in the mixer with water, and waters all his plants, indoors and out, with that. Fresh plant smoothies. In example of his success with this: 18kg of onions on 1 m²  haha!
There isn't much in English out there, but here's a video of him doing that (the English is pretty bad, but I couldn't find the one where Pommeresche himself explains it in English):

I'd love to know what you guys think of this!
Cheers!
WOW!

that was wonderful to watch, ive been smelling dirt since i could shit in my pants! I wonder if its instinctual in some of us........anyway thankyou for that post i was really happily surprised!

P and K burn tips N doesn't. You got good color. Maybe ease up on the foliar a bit.

How banged up? If anything broke just wrap some tape on it. Actually seeing its size now you could've topped or super cropped it. Something to keep in mind if growing it again.

Yeah I can't, why it feels a bit like snake oil to me haha
going to use it once more on this grow anyways though I think. ;)

A green tomato smoothie is in order too I think - no worries about potency since it's just fresh living stuff, selected for the kind of growth desired, mixed up with water.
She will express herself, or she will express herself haha

And that smoothie actually is an application of the principles Pommeresche follows: feed plants fresh living matter :D

wait wait wait, so you guys are saying actually I did have an episode (possibly ongoing) of too much P K in my soil? That would mean maybe not to add either calphos or kelp.
I'll just give her water tomorrow morning.. actually I think I could be giving her 3L a day at the mo and she'd take them

Oh and foliar, I just thought of the aloe tonight to make amends for really mistreating her - she's got 3 bandaids and a crutch on one branch alone.
I kept misjudging the rigidity - the branches look really juicy and are sticky with tiny trichs
Why would you say to back off of them, because she's going into flower?

I meant back off feeding them foliar.

I would just mend her and let her do her thing. Flower is really setting in.

Overall its in good health maybe a little much cal phos on top of the high P and K.

if you remember the wieght of you dry ingredients you can measure out an equal weight in vinegar. this makes for a standard 1:100 dilution later. but if some has evaporated then the concentration of calphos in the vinegar is higher since it will only be vinegar evaporating. you can also just make sure you have enough vinegar to just cover the surface of the crushed bones.

if you made it from egg shells you have a cal carb with very minimal amounts of phosphorus compounds. UF.com dickard it up real good.
