Need some suggestions

I'm gonna start a grow in a 4X4 tent. This will be my first grow so my knowledge is limited on lights. I've been searching on what light to use and at what wattage but the more I read the more confused I get.
My questions are
1-how many watts light would be good for a 4X4 space?
2- can anyone recommend a light that would do the job and not break the bank?

A 1000 watt hid with adj ballast would do a fine job and they're reasonably priced..
A good rule for lighting is 50+ watts per square foot.. stay away from the cheap leds..
The new cob led is the most efficient lighting but it can be pricey.... what is your lighting budget?

Then take a hard look at COB leds.

A 1000w HID would do fantastic in a 4x4, but heat can be hard to control, and even harder in a hot climate. Been there done that.

And for a 600 to 1000 bux you could do a 4x4 good and proper with cob.

I would definitely run cob leds.. I only mentioned hid for the price.. they have DIY cob led kits if you're so inclined...
or there are several sponsored light builders on this site.. cobkits, timber, northwest lights.. a few more..
