DIY Passive cooling with PIN Heatsinks SST120 and SST140

Understood. I read somewhere else on here that one alternative is the MechaTronix---they have some good stuff for Vero 29's, but with too many pre-drilled holes for screws.

What's the biggest, baddest heatsink that MechaTronix has for the Vero 29's I plan to get? Or, are there other alternatives? Sorry for not researching this more thoroughly, but I think some regulars know the answer off the top of their stoned heads? I'm going for efficiency and passive cooling.

The plan: 3x (not 2x as shown in the figure below) Vero 29's in a spacetote, like this:

Dang---I can't find any starlite heatsinks for sale on the internet. . . nor saw anything on their site that led to a dealer.

I might just go the heatsinkusa route and take the sinks to my local machinist for drilling/milling. No anodized aluminum for me :-/

Did you talk to @robincnn about his new splayed-fin heatsinks? Sounds like he should have some in soon.
I will receive about 100 samples of splay design heatsink on Thursday.
Too bad I will be at Cannagrow Expo until next week.:bigjoint:

Next week will be super cool for DIY.
Limited Splay design heatsink will be available. perfect for high power COB and for all you who need to forget old fat 140mm and find new love with sexy splay designs.:hump:
More inventory coming mid November

Also Steves quantum boards will be available. These will be super efficient boards. 11.5x 7inches. However no predrilled heatsinks for now. You will need to visit Heatsink USA for their profiles and tap and drill like the old days. Hey it was fun.:P
These new spiral fluke taps make things so easy

so what is a steves quantum board ? got a couple empty bars needing something dif to cool them (:
Boards run 99-108 volts. At 250ma it is about 25 watts and boards 15C over ambient without heatsink. close to 200lm/w at board level. Just short of 3umol

Testing at 350ma now. at 350ma board at 20c over ambient and no heatsink. 35 watts at board 190lm/w

At 500ma about 182lm/w 50 watts
At 1050ma about 165lm/w 110watts
Numbers estimated from samsung online calculator
