Dehumidifier Necessary???

I have a 4x4 tent and could easily fit 4 plants in it. The problem I have is - I have a dehumidifier in the tent on the floor and it takes up the space where that fourth plant could go. I feel like I'm wasting my light. I can only put 3 plants in there now. I'm scared to take the dehumidifier out because I got powdery mildew before. Not sure if the dehumidifier helps with that but that's what everyone says so that's why I bought it. I'm not sure if there's an answer that can help me with this, but I am frustrated that my LED is lighting my dehumidifier instead of a fourth plant. I see Growers on YouTube that don't even have a dehumidifier in there 4x4 tent. And they got 4 plants in there. Then I think- why aren't they worried about powdery mildew, how can they not have a dehumidifier in there? But then don't you need a dehumidifier towards the end to make the extra Frost come out on the bud. So even if I don't need the dehumidifier in the beginning of the grow. I'll eventually need it towards the end to lower the humidity enough to make the extra Frost come out. Just means I have to put it in my tent taking up space for the fourth plant again. oh well. thanks 4 any replies.

If you know the humidity of your room you can decide.
Veg you can run 40-70 RH fine, But the dryer it is the faster the plants will take up water and the faster they will grow.
In flower you need to keep it under 50 RH or you risk getting PM or Mold.
I aim for 40-50 for flower until last 2 weeks which I aim for as low as I can get which usually gets to 30-35 with it running full time max speed.

If you really dont want it to be in the tent, atleast put it in the room where the tents intake is.
So then you know dry air is going into the tent. But make sure you have enough exhaust to suck all the moist air out once the plants have transpired water into it.

the answer obviously depends on where you live and the climate of the area.. do you use a hydrometer now? if so, what's your rh looking like with the dehumi running and off?
i'd think if you had to, you could run the dehumi outside of the tent so that you're taking the moisture out of the air before it gets pumped into the tent, but i'm not 100% positive about this..
also, the air in the winter around me tends to be much drier, lower rh, then the air here in the summer, so you might not need the de-humi as much when it's cold outside as you do when it's warmer, again, that also depends on where you live and your climate.

if you have had an issue with PM, and you cant burn sulfur, then yes, it is necessary to have a dehumid inside ur tent...

Most of them tell you not to duct them encase of a fire in the manual.
And there is the issue of it not knowing when to auto control since its not recirculating its same air.

Thats why youd have to use it to dehumidify the whole room its in, Then take the tents intake air from that room.
Unless you built a little side tent and had fans and ducting to your grow tent.

if you have had an issue with PM, and you cant burn sulfur, then yes, it is necessary to have a dehumid inside ur tent...

I actually just bought a sulfer burner. I got the sulfur burner in there with the dehumidifier. So as long as I burn sulfur, I don't need a dehumidifier? Is it bad to burn sulfur during flower?

yes, stop burning once real buds are present (like 3-4 weeks into flower) depending on your RH this may be enough but its all situational. The sulfur makes the surface of the plant inhospitable to mold/mildew, but this isnt 100% if you have high RH

Doesn't the tent intake the air from the room? Just put the dehumidifier in the room. You likely need one of the room humidity gets above 60%RH.

I kept the heater humidifier and dehumidifier outside my tents. When I had a tent room.
