Cuttings. Will they perk back up?

Cutting leaves does nothing of the sort. It slows transpiration and keeps the heavy leaves from pulling the clone over. Considering the overwhelming majority does it says a lot. Sure everyone has different opinions, but I can't stand when people pop in on a thread and try to tell the OP not to listen to people who have given their advise. If you have a different opinion just state it and move on.

I used to do the same thing as you following the crowd. I experimented, and found greater success.

i'm not discounting your tech. I, like others was just giving my opinion of an easy way to fix the problem he had. trust me, I follow no crowds! I've put in a lot of time, and have ran so many experiments it makes my head spin. Sometimes with great success, and other times with utter failure. That was the point of my reply to you was that someone shouldnt come in and say "disregard others and just listen to me". You should listen to all opinions, and then formulate your own decisions. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for all. That's all

Try a 50/50 tray. One side your way, and the other untrimmed.
