Choosing the right cob panel

Hi I've researched a bunch and have even spoke to some that build them. Sorry this is my first post, but won't be my last!

I'm going to do either a 3 x 3 or 4 x 4 grow. I may even combine the 3x3 area to a 6x3 area...ok anyways

I'm looking for a more specifically Cree cob built panel, using 3000k-5000k white light for a decent price that covers either 3x3 or 4x4.

I'm really asking for both dimensions, 3x3 and 4x4.

I found a cheapy rolandro cob light on amazon for 250, I'll post it later on when i have time. Until then hopefully the thread pics up some light!

Thank you!

As above posted.

However. I am on budget..since i was choosing two 3x3 areas...i need two lights...

Either two cheap lights...or i eliminate 1 tent for now, stick with one tent and one good light.

My price range is 500-600, but I'd almost like to hear anything. I've searched more and found gehl lights. Nova 4/ 6 are what i checked out the most

Unfortunatly anything Cree i see are just build kits or accessories. Aside from the companies that say they have Cree lights. That's why I'm here..rather trust from experience rather than company

not jacking the thread or anything but i've been doing my research about cob and it seems cree is the most common name mentioned with good results
they were the first ones to be popular but a lot of people have moved on to newer generation cobs in that time

Awesome! I've been on Johnson's website before...just the one i clicked on that you supplied took me to exactly what i was looking for.

The cx-4, 500ish$, with 20% off it'll be under 500! First light ive looked at that i know is US Made and overall Johnson looks like a nice company.

Nice list! Just getting into it

Narrows it down to gehl Noah 4, or Johnson cx-4

The gehl is a stronger light it seems, sitting at 100$ more. It's also made and shipped from china.

I'm sure the Johnson cx-4 will suffice. I plan to do a 3x3 with just 3 plants. Theres a cx-6 for an extra 200$ for an extra 100 watts...

Unless someone tells me otherwise. These two i have narrowed it down to. And the Johnson looks to be leading the race.

Still have time to decide .

Johnson of those two has a real guy to talk to. Gehl has some history with blurple lights that could be better. White cobs are all you need.

I think you would need more of a budget to get adequate coverage for a 3x3. The two lights you are debating between won't do a 3x3 justice with just one of them.

Huh, why no mention of Amare Technology?

Here's my result with SE 250 ($595?) in a 30 x 30, plus a good bit of sticky leaf that I made butter with

4cxb 3070 and some 110 lpw leds for $600. The ggl light is 4 cxb 3070 for $400. Bigger cxb 3590 produce 20% light per watt than the lessor cxb 3070 and the citi and new vero are even better.

It's fine but the cxb 3590, vero 29 and citi cobs crush it for similar price. Also amare reports their center spot metering as its ppfd which is false advertising. They use poor practices and there's much better at its price point.

Also hybrid ways constant lies and propigating misinformation as positive facts puts a bad image on amare. They're alright but it's easy to find better.

Yeah,yeah, blah, blah blah...

You (among others here) seem hung up on specs, which is why I posted actual plant and results. Great value, great parts, great warranty, great customer service, and lots of great grows

Now please, show us a side by side with Vero29 and/or Citi crushing it. Not saying they aren't good, but 'CRUSHING" it? Without proof, you're just as guilty as what you accuse highbrid of

Timber framework lights seem like a good deal. Thinking,of buying 4 of their 300w linear frameworks 18" on center covering a 6x4 for a new grow room im building.

I heard they use lenses which are bad? Cant, you just take them off tho?
