Any light i pick it's not enough for my 3x3, though the company states it's for 3.5x3.5. I do not want to spend 1000 on a light, not yet. I have never grown anything nor do i even have a tent yet.

It's crazy to think that a tent and a few fans will be 300$, but the light required costs 3 times as much.

If i knew i could do this i wouldn't mind dropping 1-2k on a light, as the returns would be well worth it. I just have nothing yo go by.

PLC isn't what I'd call over priced cheapest COB. They are water resistant and certified. So awesome is what I'd say. But water resistant isn't what I needed.

Personally for your 3x3 I'd buy a 600w hps/MH light combo on eBay. Or ditch the tent and line your garage grow or closet with plastic. Run that shit for a year and get your skills up to speed. Then see where you want to go. With the 600w HID light you'll need exhaust......

300$ isn't crazy....like all things you gotta pay to play. $300 a grow is usually spent on dirt......

Yeah your right. But still, it's a relatively small grow.

I do have another grow setup where i went tErribly wrong. I built it out of a box and PC fans. Temps goes to 90+ with the door closed lol...

So i do know i want led...

And still would like to have a smaller budget to begin with.

After one decent grow it will pay for a 1000$ light.

Still considering the cxp-420

I have a mars hydro 300 watt led in my other grow box...

This is my lady at 2 weeks lol

130w 20ish % efficiency. 1 Lollypoped top should look great.

It's about the same as a 50w cob. You just lose out on the disco affect that plants seem to go nuts over.

For $2.0-$2.3...you better be getting a fully completed, right out of the box plug and play commercial system. Otherwise you are just wasting your money and time on overpriced DIY parts and heatshrink.

Lol!!!! Coming from the guy who used to sell diy parts. For 1.2-1.5 you can also build what these companies don't offer. Like my latest 7' long cob bar for side lighting. 350 watts for 450$

Just buying the tent and fans and soil, forget the light, and see what the mars could do

I also had one crazy thought...well not really it makes perfect sense...just...why not have someone here build one for me?

Is this something that is already being done here, or another site?

I checked all the local hydro stores. No cob whatsoever. Lucky if they have a mars led...seems i don't know...fucked up?

I know a lot of people do this underground & whatnot, but it shouldn't be that hard to be up to date with the newest technology when it comes to growing bud...i think by this point LEDs have taken over...

I disagree. Buying lights is cool and I have bought plenty. Now I don't and won't. Making "custom" configurations like the 7 foot bar is what I'm after. I added a few cobs between my amares, built a 4 switch progressive veg light to take seedlings all the way through veg. No one or company offeres this. That's why I have a hard on for DIY now.

Do you not think that if you are paying 2$/w or more for a "DIY kit" it shouldn't be a DIY kit...it should be a fully plug and play commercially viable option???

depends. without a "standard" its apples and oranges. I could see paying over $2/W for something that offered extreme efficiency but that goes with the territory. same person could buy a $2/W premade and dim it to half current and now they have a $4/W extremely efficient light
