Shouldn't be a problem. Set it up so that the wiring is on the up end so it's not basking in light...

How you going to put an hps in a 20x20" space? I should ask why...that small of a space can be lit up with cfls and no cool tube.

1: CFL is an option, though a little weaker then the HPS (in my newbish opinion)
2: How? Just a cooltube, and end of flower the plants can get within 5 inches or so which means I have enough space vertically I think.
3: It is getting COLD here, and I want to make sure tent is Warm enough. After this run I will move to LED probably.

I would rather keep the CFLs for veg. You think I can yield close to two ounces per month with a CFL setup in that space?

My space is 40 inches in height. After the seed run, to get a mom etc...I will be running micro sog. The hps cooltube will take up 6 inches, and at end of cycle the plants can be around 6 inches from an HPS with a wattage this low. That means the light and distance needed from cannopy take up 12 inches. That leaves me 28 inches from bottom of bot to top of plant, for the SOG runs. I was stating that I think this is doable.

Might try something like 19 watt led from wally world. I have 2over a blue dream and it looks better than when I had it under the hps .
Now here's the rest of the story, it was a grow that got f'ed up because my ph meter broke and I didn't notice in time. So I took a monster crop, under CFLs after a while I added the LEDs ( 1 3000k ,1 5000k ) I noticed a difference in less than a week. In 2weeks she was exploding.

2oz per month in a 20x20x40" tall space? I don't see how that's possible really in such a small space. I think after you get around the learning curve and apply your own spin on what best works for you you'll realize what a lofty goal you're setting for yourself. Pretty sure I see an LED in your future tho.

My last few have been vertical and the last was with a screen....never tuck branches lol. Once you tuck and they grow your stuck man. You sure can grow more plants with fewer lights tho. For me it was a pain, I had too many plants to deal with and they were all from seed. 3 would have covered the screen and I had 7 or 8. Now I'd certainly use clones you've grown before.

I do weaving lol, I have to weave, they get out of control sometimes, like now i need to weave some shoots that are growing to the light on my Ladder run. Once they get to like 7" out I have to weave them or they grow into the light before they are done.

From everything I read, it seems that 2 oz per month would be doable. If not I will just have to setup another box and offset them by 4 weeks =) Then I will surely hit my goal. The height...yeah I know. I wanted really bad to find a 20x20x60 or so but i just COULDNT. If anyone has a link to a tent that is 20x20 but taller than 40 inches id LOVE to hear about it. What do you think a GOOD goal for that tent is? Out of an 8 week run of some kush, if I do things MOSTLY right? I need 2 oz per month to self sustain, so whatever I gotta do to hit that goal I will end up doing.

Use ties and tie them back and direct them.it takes more than one grow to get vertical efficient, at least it did for me In a few weeks those ties will mostly be irrelevant and if you tuck up higher even with the ties removed the plants will hold up the screen. I wouldn't use wire again, it would be a kinder material that wasn't so unwieldy , least that was my experience.these were all vertical that were tied down to get bottom branches even with the top, and then cut them loose for a smaller footprint. I was chastised for redistributing the auxins lol. But still you rtry things and realize once these plants have taken root you have to try hard to really kill them. This Dutch passion outlaw I just smoked is a strong smoke, grows great but truly does need 12 weeks in flower. They really do add so much in the last 2 weeks. So aromatic

Bro all you need is two small seperate cabs/tent and 150/200w for 2+ zips a month, shouldn't get too crowded as long as one plant is always a month (more like 5 weeks) ahead.
what wattage hps though?

I am most likely going to rock a dimmable 250w in the 20x20 running at 175-200w or 175w + some uv and cfl. The more I read up on the CFL stuff the more it sounds appealing, im just worried I wont get the weight.
Also its funny you mentioned that because I was thinking of building another small square foot box just for fun. Would be cool to see what I could yield out of 1 sq ft, and would be fun to keep tweaking and improving it =) Maybe I should make it a little bigger so I can hit this goal.

Right now got 5 Conspiracy Kush in the tent, just planted last night. the Tora Bora x Cannatonic bx4 go in today, their roots just werent long enough. Tent is holding at 78-82 right now with 50-60% humidity. Once the seedlings are an inch or 2 tall I might drop that humidity a little. I dont know, its hard to say when you read so many different things so many places. Either way you think that temp/humid is ok for the seedlings to pop through? They germed really well with nice fattie taps.
