Sam Harris discussed it in a video after Trumps election. Said Republican opresearch would have a field day with a socialst and he is largely unvetted.
Also that this was a backlash against the last decade of progressive overreach. The ditch many young progressives were willing to die in was non-gender pronouns, safe spaces, blocking free speech of unpopular talk by folks like Bill Maher on college campuses. The inability of the progressive fringe to recognize a common sense danger from Islam. Folks who think its everyone's right to come to the USA and stay, destroying our labor market.
Trump winning, says Harris, was a backlash to all that bullshit and nonsense. Even under the best conditions, would a ultra far left candidate have been the best choice in that climate?
