HERBIES CLOSED?

It is shocking how few seedbank sites sites use https, I would highly recommend using them, and encrypted email, for a boatload of data security reasons. Now that the impending USAG is that racist piece of shit Jeff Sessions, even the more so. I won't do business with any of the seedbanks that aren't encrypted starting today. In fact, I might leave RIU for this exact reason. It is not hard to set up a security certificate, and they can be had for free via letsencrypt.org, so there really is no longer an excuse not to encrypt ALL websites.
Yes on https (I run HTTPS Everywhere as a browser extension, since many sites do support https but don't default to it). However, never assume that just because a site is encrypted that it's secure. Often times it's not, and there can be several possible reasons for that (expired certificate, certificate issued to a different party, no Perfect Forward Secrecy support, etc). To determine just how secure an https site is install the browser extension SSleuth.

But of even greater importance to securing one's privacy is encrypting one's own datastream all the time, as well as spoofing your IP address. For that use a VPN service (a paid one -- forget about the so-called free ones). And be very careful about which VPN you subscribe to and which country they're located in (some countries require VPNs to log connections).

This if from attitude site

We no longer accept any Mastercard or Maestro card payments on this site. This is due to their policies and unwillingness to work with any legal cannabis related businesses. We have no choice in this matter and apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.

There is currently 15% Off all postal/cash orders. This is calculated when the Postal/Cash payment option is selected.
BitCoin is the future for these businesses, but it needs to be easier for the consumer

Good points, all of them. I didn't want to get too pedantic about it, but you are correct. I rely largely on obscurity for security, I admit that, and if I got serious I would do all those things.

Keeping a credit card processor up & running has been a problem for seedbanks for several years now, but it does seem to be getting worse.

Bitcoins are not terribly hard to get or use - it takes some time to set it up at first, then it's pretty easy.
If anyone is interested in buying with us & hasn't used them before, I'll be happy to point you in the right direction via PM.

As far as transparency goes, it's hard to decide what you should say. We're honest when we talk to individual customers, but it's hard to put everything you do on blast since this business is becoming more competitive every day - and everyone is just waiting to copy any new idea.

For us, we have credit cards open for UK customers and for US customers on a very limited basis on a case by case basis. Basically, we've pushed our fraud checking to the limit. Again, I'll be happy to help if you guys need it - just PM me.

What you should say? The truth , , regardless of how uncomfortable and or reavealing. "Companies" tend to keep consumers in the dark for all types of reasons. That is new management practices and also part of why our world is the way it is. I will say it again " that sort of behavior is more hindering than helpful " to your bottom line! So basically when you handle things on a customer to customer basis you are relying on that customer to spread the news that you are still around and not up to any "fishy" business. Piss poor managing. You all need to be demoted if you think this is acceptable business practices. All the people buying into that practice that is. Not meaning "you" directly or your company. Just from a business owner operator p.o.v

What do you suggest they mail it in? A loaf of bread. Seriously.

The extra stealth is where they take them out of breeders packs.

All companies have things the keep close to the vest if they think it makes them more or less competitive.

We don't want customers spreading the word - that's not ever the intention of handling things on a customer by customer basis. In fact, it's because we don't want the word spread.

Maybe you don't know this, but it's something I've said publicly plenty of times - selling seeds is specifically against the VISA, Mastercard & Paypal's TOS. It's not legal to import any plant material into the US without a phytosanitary permit - that's all seeds, not just cannabis seeds. Then, you add in that cannabis isn't legal on a federal level and we're passing through both customs and the US Post Office, and you can see where we're operating in a gray area.

When you operate in a gray area, you don't always want to draw attention to it by being 100% transparent.

That's just a little explanation about why we think carefully before we say anything officially about a lot of things.

I see exactly what you are saying and I agree with you however, I am sure that this turmoil had been on "companies" radars long before it actually became factual and we all woke up one morning to our favorite seed shops saying closed. Im am sorry but that small explanation that you just gave me was perfect and understandable and should have been on ALL sellers websites prior. That was nothing to keep "proprietary" all of the companies saw that coming. This my friends is called keep that bottom line to the bitter end. How was the customer concidered in this scenario? Allowing panic to set in for some folks who thought they were going to lose their order/money? What about the first time customer who was sceptical placing an order to start with? Regardless how the situation turned out most likely that customer will look elsewhere for their next purchase. Good luck, I hope the transition doesnt cause too much grief... Still love you guys. Dislike management, love you guys.

I've gotten seeds in a plain envelope before, but they were in a hard case.
Ya still saying bullshit every company I've ever used I never pay for stealth shipping and every package comes in a padded envelope not a letter envelope white and see through sorry just not common practice
