Expert or nOOb the flowering time remains the same. The expert will get better yields and likely better quality but time to flower is genetic. Breeders likely start the flowering countdown from when buds start forming rather than the date they flip to flower so it looks better to us that are looking for faster flowering times. I count from the day I flip.
When you examine your trichs the cloudy ones look different from the clear ones under any light so you're not doing anything wrong. I follow Jorge Cervantes teachings about when to harvest for peak THC which is when the trichs are 50/50, clear/cloudy and 90% or so of the hairs have gone red. Most strains will always have a few white ones as new flowers will grow for a long time after the peak is reached but not enough to increase the yield significantly. Meanwhile THC is degrading to CBN while many misguided growers want to wait weeks longer for amber trichs wasting electricity and grow space when the trichs will age and go amber after the plants are harvested. If they want couch-lock pot then they should grow a couch-lock strain.
