Recommendation for tent other than gorilla

Yea gorilla does look like the best tent but the price is just too much for me right now since I don't want to spend much more than a grand to get up and running. For how affordable the Apollo is, the quality was good. I had a 6" air cooled hood and 6x24 can lite filter hanging in a 4x4 and the poles didn't seem to be stressed much.
that is what i thought and i got the cheap tents .....i know about the brackets the bad way

u have to look at the tent as a sheer investment ........i have had mine now for 5 4 and 3 years .....the cost of them has been returned several times over ......as i am moving i selling off my gear to some local ppl i am getting half the cost on things .....in the long term i am not out anything short term u might miss a meal or 4

Gorilla is the best, but you specifically asked for other tent recommendations. I would stay away from Lighthouse Hydro, haven't had good experiences there from a build quality perspective myself and friends have concurred. I think you should probably stick with Apollo. It seems like there are more than enough good reviews of Apollo's tents and they're like 1/3rd the price of Gorilla. You lose a lot of features + fabric thickness but you get sturdy construction, which is all you really want when looking for a budget tent IMO.

Here are a few sites that seem to concur:

Thanks for the info man. when I had my last apollo tent it was definitely worth the price so I'll most likely go with them again. I would really just like to frame out the area with 2x4's and plywood but i'am not sure how long I will be staying in this house so i'am going to wait on that.

Yeah and Apollo's are cheap enough that if you decide to frame it out later, not a huge loss. You can always hock 'em on Craigs if you decide to go more perma. Happy growing :)

What happened? I've heard mostly good things about their customer service. I think I will go with Apollo or vivosun.
So I had a 180w Apollo UFO and had noticed after a year I had 5 leds out so I sent it in for warrenty and everything was going fine until they delivered it to the wrong house (not the post offices falt) and apollo tried to tell me it was my fault and refused to send another and they eventually just stopped responding to me but I did go to the address that it was shipped to and the people were nice enough to give it to me.

I just picked up a HTGsupply 4.5x4.5x6.5 tent. Other than having to rub some soap on the zippers to lube them, it seems decent. I couldn't find weight ratings, but my 200+lb fat ass was able to do pull-ups on the frame. I do notice the pinholes around the stitching, don't think it'll be an issue, honestly.

Wow I don't blame you for not doing business with them again.

Thanks for the input but that doesn't sound like very good quality except for the frame.

I have nothing to compare it to, I don't think I've ever seen another brand tent, don't remember. I couldn't find anything online more than $50 cheaper, and I knew nothing about those, I could put my hands on this and it seemed decent. We'll see, I'm hard on stuff.

Yea it looks like a good tent but I'm still undecided since the Apollo has everything the vivosun has and it's cheaper. I used to have an Apollo 4x4, and other than the usual light leaks it was a solid tent

I bought the vivosun and 1 of the deciding factors for me vs the others was the metal corner pieces where all others seemed to be plastic that breaks. I like the windows too and the zipper is solid quality.. I haven't had it long but I'm happy with the quality

The Apollo has metal corners too but the vivosun does look nice. A guy with a vivosun and gorilla did a review and said the vivosun poles are a little bigger than the gorilla so I'm sure it's definitely a strong tent. I will be ordering soon and think I will go with the vivosun.

Apollo used to have plastic but they upgraded :)
