Sealing grow room door

So I converted an old dresser into a grow space and the only problem I'm having is trying to seal up the door. I've tried 2 types of weather stripping, and both started to fall off after a while. Would it stick to a painted surface better or do I need better weather stripping? I had one idea, but I dont know if it will work. I was thinking about wraping the edges of the dresser with cling wrap, close the door, go in from the back and spraying foam sealer on the door. From what I've read, it won't stick to the cling wrap. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

Automotive quality rubber weather strip that has been rinsed thoroughly, use a nail gun.

What's the dresser made of? I'm assuming it was self stick weatherstripping? Did you clean with alcohol before putting it up? Could you could just staple it up?

yes it was self stick, it's made out of wood and it was clean, I'll probably nail it up like you guys are saying. Also I forgot to ask, what about around the hinges

Bare wood? oiled? varnished? other coatings?

the wood needs a coating of polyurethane so the strip has something to attach too .......the wood grain it self will not hold sooner or later will peal off letting gas by
and even that only works if the door has a tight pressure (u know a few lbs of pressure holding it against the seal)

really your best bet doing this is to mimic something old

these are the frigs of the 1800s.......look at the door see how that is how when u shut it it has a tapered door and a latch .......u want to copy that and use the weather striping to seal it off

u could do the same thing by shlackng/poly the wood (sealing off the pours given u a good surface to bond too ).....they sell it in paint cans u can spray coat it few times
then u can use some 1inch foam board to make that door like u see in the ice box
then on the edge of it put the strip and then u close it latch it down

those ice boxes worked well back in the day

I would get yourself some IPG Red Sheathing "tuck" tape. The shit sticks to anything and takes fingerprints with it. Put the weatherstripping down and put the tape over top. This tape is the best for sealing up a room "or cabinet". It will be money well spent.

That's why. Paint it, or polyurethane like justugh said, at least the interior. That bare wood is a moisture magnet, which is why the adhesive let go, and perfect host for mold.

Thanks for all the help everybody, the only problem I'm having now is around the hinges. They are hidden cabinet hinges but you can see a little light coming out where they're mounted.

Cut a bicycle innertube down the middle and tack it over the inside of the hinges, works great.

That, the suggestion about automotive weather stripping or what I used to seal the door on my clone cabinet was garage door weatherstripping, cheap and easy, I just stapled it to the frame and it's been the same one for 4 years.
