I Beat Hard Drug Addiction

Hey good job bro. I was addicted to opiates heavy for about 8 years and all types of pills even cocaine. Lost my best friend to an oxycodone overdose he was 19 i was 20 we used to shoot up all the time, knew him since we were young and used to skateboard together, although, that still didnt stop my addiction, it took several years of going from a baller selling dope, to my addictions of drugs and gambling that took everything from me and resorted to theft everyday, until i just got sick of the same old bullshit routine everyday of looking for a vein to stick a needle in. After going cold turkey from drugs (not smoking weed prior to quiting drugs) straight to smoking weed while withdrawing well, marijuana saved my life and kept me somewhat stable through the withdrawals at high doses of weed. I cant say im not an addict because i still just replace my desires with weed but its a much better option in opinion and its kept me clean for about 5-6 years now. In this time i have gotten my G.E.D, then my associates degree and now working on my bachelors of science degree in chemistry, im 27 years old now. I cant say i haven't made sacrifices thou, deleted my facebook, got rid of all old friends, e.t.c, gained some weight.

Do i miss that shit?
sometimes, but i realize that i can do much more important things with my brain and body.

Hope all goes well to anybody else out there struggling with narcotic addiction demons.

I don't agree with the part about truly being an addiction crap... however he is right as far as once someone is an addict they will always fight that addiction or craving every day for the rest of your life.

To the dude that just kicked the crap, mad props it's not easy to kick any hard drug, I myself have never ventured far into meth. But I was a iv user for a long time h every day , coke binges. I got 90 zanys a month and would eat all of them in a week. Shooting up Raw h everyday eating that many zans at the same time I should a died, some days I think the only thing that kept my heart beatimg was the ridiculously huge shots of yayo. It's not easy to beat addiction it will follow you everyday and some days it's much harder then others to shake that urge away.

I don't wish addiction on any one and I hope you can stay away from the stuff man stay strong. And anyone else fighting that shit I hope one day they can find the strength to stop.

But damn I'd love a massive speed ball right now
Exactly, that's why I said his statement or ideology was flawed.

Most of us who post on here have some form of addiction. But, calling someone out because they decided to give something up is ludicrous.

Let them enjoy there victory - even though it might be just temporary.

Ah, the great white shards. A little cloudy. But, I guess it will do for a RIU photo op.

Tip of the Day: Before posting groom those finger nails boy. Even meth heads have there standards LMFAO. Most are OCD by nature. :eyesmoke:

Alcohol is the worst. It doesn't make it any easier by having a liquor store on every corner and advertisements every time you turn on the ole TV tube.

But, combining alcohol and a benzodiazepine is begging for a blackout. It increases the seizure threshold as well. That combination can be particularly dangerous because you can commit acts without you even remembering. I hope you're able to taper down and get over the addiction.

Heavy MDMA use has its drawbacks too. LSD if used properly, and in moderation, can have its benefits. It can ever cure you of your other addictions. But, LSD must first be used as a medicine and not a toy. If a proper session is put in place then it might help you address the source of your addiction.

That's the addict in you. I don't know you personally, so my evaulation is a surface reflection of you at best.

There may be deep rooted problems that trigger you to start using again. Some people use drugs for a fun time while others use to mask and medicate.

By saying, you stay sober for years then go on a binge indicates to me that there is something triggering theses manic drug episodes.

Find strains that have a high CBD content. Not sure of a specific stain but I know there are a few new ones on the market genetically modified to produce higher CBD. CBD is the medicinal component in marijuana, not saying that THC isn't, but CBD lacks the psychoactive high that causes a bad reaction in some individuals.

It's preferred to souce the seeds and grow some yourself. High CBD strains are known to be pricey from what I can remember.

PTSD is no joke. I don't want to intrude but may I ask what triggered the PTSD? High consumption of drugs can only exacerbate it I think.

I would highly recommend the book "a new earth" by Eckhart Tolle. It is possible to live your life without thinking about your past so much. I have been addicted to Meth and blow and alcohol and am now completely free(not saying I couldn't relapse) but I just said no to a half o of blow last week no problem. When I do think about using and yes I still get the odd craving I just think of how shitty I'm gonna feel after a few days and realize it's not worth the initial high.

This statement is stupid and juvenile.

Are you trying to prove something with your 12 Step propaganda BS?

The OP came here to share his victory over a terrible drug affliction.

Not, for someone to say 'hey your not an addict if you can lay a crack pipe down'.

Wise up Lacedwitgame!

Its not a stupid statement or juvenile, its sound advice..once you start patting yourself on the back n let your guard down like ya beat it once n for all.. You are almost guaranteed to relapse hard.

Where is it sound? It's not sage advice by any means. How do you know he is letting his guard down? It's not advice at all. He was trying to prove his point. There's a huge difference.

If you dwell on the addiction too much it will most certainly lead to relapse, it is hard at first not to think about it but at some point you are gonna have to let go of it, easier said than done which is why I recommend the book to any addict of any substance.

If you have a problem disconnect from the friends that enable you and perhaps abandon membership boards like these that embellish drug use.

If you truly want to change, than change can only happen if you vow to stop doing the things you do on a daily basis. Break old habits by adopting new hobbies.
