Is a 1/2 Pound per Light Considered a Good Yield?

Hello everyone,

I just finished my first real grow. I grew twelve LSD plants in soil under four 600w lights. I pulled 2 lbs dry. Would this be considered a good yield?

908 grams = 2 lbs

You used 2400 watts of light (600 X 4)

908 divided by 2400 is 0.37 grams per watt

Not a great yield...but IF the weed is good, then it's 2 pounds of good weed you won't have to buy! -could be worse!

*EDIT* Most of the time, for average-growing strains, a gram per watt is considered pretty decent...but some people have pushed that to over 2 grams per watt and maybe soon to even be getting in the 3 gpw range!!

There are dozens of variables that could be in play. Temp, humidity, strain, genetics (good plants grow well, crappy plants do not), how close the lights were to plants, what kind of lights, Co 2 or no CO2, soil, coco, hydro. Nutes.

The guy with the web site grow weed cheaply. I think this video was pretty good. He has a pretty cheap set up and appears to be pulling pretty huge plants. It could be a con but I doubt it. He is big on surface temps of the plants. Not too hut or cold. Decent bulbs.

Exceptional? Not really. That was my very 1st grow. 1x600, 9x3.7 gal pots in a 4x4 tent, ffof, apollo cool tube, apollo ballast, apollo bulb. No co2, no boosters. 17.64oz dry. I had killer genetics which helped out a lot.

What I do now after 4+yrs of growing, now that's exceptional.

Clones of a Clone of LSD

1-4x8 tent and 1-4x4 tent
Apollo ballasts and bulbs- 3 in the 4x8 and 1 in the 4x4
Hydrofarm 6" air cooled hoods
Lights were 2 feet from plants in the beginning but were within 6 in after stretch
Plants were topped and grown to 24in at transition
FF Ocean Forest Soil in 5 gal pots
Temp at bud sites were 80 degrees with lights on, 65-70 when off
Humidity was under 50%
Botanicare nutes:
Soil Pro Blend Grow
Sweet Raw
Liquid Karma
Cal-Mag
GH Kool Bloom Ripening
Rock Resinator

No CO2

Imo, your lights off temps are a bit too cold, unless last 2 weeks of flower. Should be about 75* min.

Humidity too low, unless last 2 weeks of flower. Should be 60/65%.

Since your in ac hoods, lower them a bit more. Use back of your hand as a guide. Hot, raise them, warm is about the sweet spot. I can get mine 1' (+/-").

I pull 1+ lbs from a single 600 HPS in a 4x4. My G-13 will pull almost 2 in said 4x4 with a 25 day veg and 63 days of flower.

My Blue Mango will get me 1.5 lbs per 4x4 with said 600 HPS.

My 400 watt perpetual that i ran decades ago would get me a qp every 2 weeks.

Thats intresting how you got it diled in on strains i think my next grow all keep more detail

If your room is cool enough set ur light inches away from your plant(s), make a canopy about 1-2 ft thick unless ur doig vertical or supplemental lighting on the bottom or sides. i think youll like the results. o yeah co2 bag maybe and raise your temps? theres lotsa stuff to tweak when you get comfortable with your medium and nutes and your environement is under contro.

Id say not bad on the grow! dont go telling everyone; but many people dont make it to the end of grow 1. good job. i want to see your pics in a few years after you read up.

Iv been growing awhile i just normally build a room used to use tents then i tore them into peaces and staple them to walls on whatever grow i use dwc buckets blue planet nutrients 2 part with nice results lights hps still i used a cheaper led dident care for it as much
