LOL, you sure did get me there, chump.

At least you've stopped posting your own made up economic theories.
Amen and without further ado the troll (Fogdog) attacks his opponent with another logical fallacy
First logical fallacy you pulled the straw man.

I think we should address the posters original claim before we get into an argument about who controls the price of oil. The poster originally stated that the price of gas always goes up when we have a republican president. He moved on to claim that the price of gas has been steady for the last 8 years. Both of these claims are irrefutably false. If we look at gas prices from 1929 to present day we see that gas has gone up during both republican and democratic presidencies, with the highest cost of gas ever recorded arriving during president Obamas time in office.

I have supplied a graph furnished by the U.S Department of Energy that follows the price of gas from 1929 to 2015. I will be referring to the green line on the graph as it takes into account inflation. I have also included a link to the U.S Department of Energy website. https://energy.gov/eere/vehicles/fact-915-march-7-2016-average-historical-annual-gasoline-pump-price-1929-2015

Looking at this graph we see three major spikes in the price of gasoline. The first begins in 1977 and continues rising until about 1982. Jimmy Carter a democrat was president when the price of gas began to rise which continued into the first year or two of Reagan’s presidency. By the end of Ronald Reagan’s presidency the price of gas had dramatically decreased.

The second dramatic spike we see come in 2001 and peaks around 2007. The president during this time was republican George W Bush. By the end of his presidency the price of gas had began to fall but not nearly enough.

This brings us to the third and most dramatic increase in the price of gasoline which began around 2010 and peaks around 2013. During this period of time the president was Barack Obama who of course is a democrat. By 2015 we see another dramatic decrease in the price of gas.

Ok on to the last bit about how gas has been pretty steady over the last 8 years. Again all we have to do is look at the graph to see that the price of gas has dramatically fluctuated over the past 8 years. 8 years ago gas sat at bout $2.50 a gallon it rose over the years to a record high of around $3.75 a gallon and back down again to $2.50 a gallon. I would call this anything but steady!

So in summation have no fear I am here to do your research for you and as you can see it really doesn’t matter who is in office the potential for being fucked at the pumps will always be there. You are right though gas will go up again soon, and I’m sure you will be like “see I told ya so” to all of your friends completely ignoring the fact that OPEC just put a halt on production which will inevitably lead to higher gas prices during the Trump presidency. But I mean who cares as long as you seem right!

you forgot to mention that the price of gas only dropped under bush because he crashed the economy to shit.

and it went back up under obama because he saved the economy from a second great depression.

you should change your name to dummington.

Your charts are completely correct about historical oil prices not correlated to which party the sitting president is affiliated with. Yet it is backward looking information. What all this data cannot do is show us what or not the presumptive president in waiting will do. I don't know which way prices will go although I have an opinion. Trump cares not one width of a fungus gnat's eye about the people who voted for him. Whatever he does will be in the best interests of the wealthy kleptocracy that he represents and now leads. If we were playing 20 questions, I'd ask "what is in Exxon's and Russia's and Saudi Arabia's best interests?"

I'll say it ahead of time. I told you so.

OPEC agreed to lower oil production just recently after deliberately flooding the markets with oil for the past 3 years. This had nothing to do with Obama's domestic oil policy and everything to do with OPEC achieving their goal of bankrupting the small producers.
I disagree with your assessment. The current administration is committed to sanctions against Russia and the best way to hurt their economy is to drive down the price of fossil fuels. OPEC got told to go along or get crushed, so they fell in line and produced their asses off to stay solvent.

With a new administration coming in which is overtly friendlier to Russia, the tone has decidedly shifted. Putin is our new pal and we can be friends again with Russia... and the best way to help them out is to raise the price of oil.

Here comes the ad hominems.
"You should just make up your own theories like the guys from BIG STATES do."
That's real funny stuff! So your saying that guys with big states, seems to feel inadequate in the size department, like to make up their own (theories). Fogdog, obviously doesn't know the meaning of theories or have a formal education beyond the 8th grade which shows in his inability to have a rational conversation, know his geography, or have the ability to look into a dictionary before opening his mouth.

Are you a child? I didn't respond to your raving because it wasn't worth the effort. So now you pursue me? LOL

I think we have more in common than in difference. So relax. Then again, I'm under your skin and I'm not a nice person so I think I'll burrow in a bit deeper.

Your premise that the president has NO effect on oil prices is ridiculous. As UB pointed out, Bush tanked our economy. Ours is 25% of the world GNP. And Bush totally fucked it up. Of course oil prices crashed then. Obama has been rebuilding the economy and oil prices are set to go up. Also Bush jr fucked up in Iraq AND created the bubble economy that was in part due to $100 per barrel oil prices. So shut the fuck up about the role of the leader of the fucking largest economy in history in affecting commodity prices.

Again, shut the fuck up about your stupid theory that the political leaders have no effect on commodity prices. They do. They aren't the only effect but they certainly do have an effect. And Trump will not let oil prices hurt his wealth. He simply will not do that. He'll fuck everybody who put faith in him before that happens. He'll fuck everybody to increase his wealth too. Which is why I say your (snicker) red state (note: I didn't say small) got shagged when it went for Trump. I don't know who you voted for but I'm guessing it wasn't Clinton so you got shagged too.

That said, I'm guessing we have more in common than not. So, relax. I'm not your (snicker) enemy. Unless that is you're (snicker again)) a Libertarian. That's the same thing as a fucking Republican only Libertarians can't admit they support the status quo. I hope you're (snicker) not a fucking Libertarian.

Seems every time the Republicans win office our Gas and Oil prices go thru the Roof
I will go as far to say the Prices of fuel will increase to over $5.00 a gallon for gas, and Propane and Natural gas prices will also increase.
Our fuel prices have been stable for 8 years now, Lets see what will happen now. I know see it before and it is coming again.
I really hope I am wrong, but as with the last 3 republicans fuel prices went sky high.
I'll be booming by the end of the first quarter of the year, I believe. I know most people hate high gas prices, but not this guy..I work in the oilfield, and I know from experience when gas prices are high, oil prices are high.. and when gas prices are high, my paychecks are high!
People always look at me like I'm a dousche when I say I can't wait for pump gas to cost a steady 5$.. but I wholeheartedly mean it.

Of course, and you'll always have work. Just do yourself a big favor; sock away as much as you can during the good times because they never last forever.

10-4, I'm learning this now. When I first got in over here in 2012 I was 100% confident that if any of my friends wanted to move over here from home and get a job, I could find them a job that would steadily pay between 3 and 5 times what they were making minimum wage at home..
This is when shit was going crazy over here.

Now a days that is not the case. At all.. everyone is fighting for jobs that no one used to want. I've watched a lot of people who have been here longer than me lose their jobs, I'm just lucky I have got to stick it out. I've taken paycuts and such, but it is all worth it, because I strongly believe it will be back to how it was, for those of us that were willing to or able to stick it out.
I work 14 hour night shifts now.. with lots of overtime. . 7 days on, 7 off, and then on my days off i work a second job. I have even quit smoking for job security.. shitty., but You just have to be willing to adapt or sink I guess .
I started as a welder helper but I have learned a pretty valuable skillet since, and that is the reason I have been able to stay busy.
My Job is to monitor a certain group of Wells and make sure that they are maximizing potential. That means check pressures, separators, dumps, etc to make sure that oil and gas is coming out of the ground and being separated and sold in the most effective and efficient way possible.
As long as there is oil coming out of the ground, and I don't fuck up too bad of course, I should be able to hold my job.
There have been times I have counted the number of oil load receipts for the day and multiplied # of barrels hauled x 55$ per barrel and realized that in that one day, I had made the company well over 150,000$.. in 1 day!
Of course, they would get this done without me, no doubt.. but still just crazy to think about.

stay smokin'
