First time grower here, in MA, just legal. popped some bag seed I got off my brother in law, 4 sprouts off of 7 seeds, not a bad ratio there. gonna post some pics. my budget is super low, so just doing what I can until I can order better lighting, etc. anyway, couple pics for now.20161215_092050.jpg 20161215_092050.jpg 20161215_142221.jpg

You're going to want a better light ,
cheap nutrients, and a enclosed space for flowering (eventually).
For lights I recommend a Mars hydro eBay/Amazon 69$ shipped
Advanced nutrients jungle juice 3 part kit 31$ Shipped
Or general hydroponics 3 part 26$Shipped
You at least need grow and bloom nutrients.
And cal-mag 16$ is a bonus and will save you time ahead in the future.

Basically you're gonna have to spend 100$-150$ if you want to successfully grow on a budget without big issues or any issues at all.

Yeah, I know that. I have plans for a space, lighting, nutes, etc. that is literally just my seedling area.

Is that an led bulb in the make shift reflector or incandescent?

Do what you can to get them a good amount of light otherwise they will grow thin and stretch which will slow down the whole maturing process.

My opinion if budgets tight, is to get a small box/bottle of all purpose fertilizer.

It can be overwhelming and expensive at the beginning doing too much at once.

Learn what you can off the grow/cheap nutrients and progress as you develop skills/interest.

Growing indoors can be a challenge because it's unnatural, it's up to the grower to provide an artificial environment that the plants will like. I've definitely had more trouble indoors than outdoors

Edit: change out the incandescent asap and hope all goes well for you!

It's an incandescent 3 way on the lowest setting. My space is going have 10 led bulbs to start, then a custom cob array later. As far as nutes, soil, etc, my local hydro store has a good dude who has been doing this for a long time and gives great advice.

Yes LED bulbs work, its the incandescent bulb you have now thats bearly putting any par down which will probably cause some crazy stretch and slow growth

This will work, that 69$ panel someone mentioned up there will work for a budget too.

I have seeds started under 6 10w lowes incandescent looking leds with the plastic dome ripped off, a 10$ vanity light fixture from lowes and a couple y socket spliters. 20 bux supper budget light and everything is purchased locally. There are endless amounts of better options i know. Still waiting on mt lights to be shipped but sometimes you gotta race

My first every light I did 10 years ago was basically what you have now but I wouldn't do it again for fear of a fire and what not... not a huge risk but still a risk I'd rather not take

And my seedlings look worse off then yours but I kinda abuse them

Another thing I do some times is add worms to my cups....they tend to regulate their own population based on room and available food .. and I would sprinkle shit on top like coffee grounds oatmeal wood ash ect instead of store bought chemical nutes

Ghetto af I know

I've been thinking about it and not to be mean but get rid of that light man. I don't wanna hear about a neighborhood house burning down in a week

.. i understand the need to ghetto rig stuff and not wanted to spend money on it till you truly know what your getting yourself into..I've had friends spend 100s of $ and fail and ive had other friends dropped seeds in their ash tray and got a few oz.

until you find the parts to build something that won't start a fire in all honesty put it on your windowsill. Leave that light on in that room maybe move it closer and when it gets warmer here ( probably won't be till June bc mass is the new Alaska apparently lol ) put it out side with some other near by plants to hide it
