Why is my ppm run off high

I recently flushed my plants due to the run off ppm being higher then the ppm of the nutes when i was feeding. I got the ppm down to 600-900 and today i fed the plant with 1/2 strenght the ppm was like 900 so i watered and checked the run off and it was like 1200-1500. Why is it getting high isnt it supposedly to be around the same of what u fed. Im in soil fox farm ocean forest.

im not sure to be honest i know the first 2 weeks u dont got to feed any nutes but im on week 8 of flower. I just want to know if its normal for my next run
first 2 weeks of a plants life with ocean forest???

Umm.. Ocean forest soil actually has enough built in nutrients to take you all the way through a 5 week veg period.. as in Only use 6.5 ph water for 5 weeks then flip to flower. then start feeding flower nutrients.

if you put a seed in ocean forest soil it has enough nutrients in it to veg a plant for 5 weeks. I add nothing but water for 5 weeks then flip timer to 12/12

If you're using ocean forest soil in flowering i would use their solubles .. open sesame for a week then beastie bloomz 2 times then cha ching 3 times then flush.

start using that run off to fertilize your whole room man. free ferts, like a golden goose! keep doing what you're doing keep her happy and milk her for all she's got.

but really, why would you pouring these nutrients in the dirt at the end of flower ?

Measuring ppm of run off is tricky. Your conclusion that you got the ppm down to 600 in your soil is probably not right. Once the pot is saturated, additional water will run through more quickly and pick up less content. It finds the easiest path and takes it.

Salt build up is what you are trying to keep down at this phase. You can feed them until harvest and it won't do anything but improve your results. Study up on slow drying and curing and that is what will make it smoke smoooth and terrific, not flushing, which is a complete stoner myth in regards to flavor improvement.

Good luck, finish strong!

I measured the runoff of each plant and got it under 1000 is it normal that the ppm increased by that much . Isnt the run off supposed to be the same or about the same when u feed

No, not that simple. You can build up nute levels by consistently over feeding a little bit. Your roots also put out waste products, exudates. Synthetic nutes carry the risk of building up salts if you are not leaching now and then.

If you know how to read the plant, there is little reason to measure ppm on run off. But if something is off it can be useful to gauge progress on corrections.

Why are you feeding a soil mix that comes with nutrients already in it? Having done this, why are you surprised to see high concentrations of salts coming out?

You are adding nutes to a medium that is already high in fertilizer this your runoff is higher. Just water no nutrients until your runoff is about 900. If 900 is half stregth you are dramatically over feeding. Very few plants can handle 1800 ppm in hydro let alone a medium like ffof that is already very rich soil.

There is no need to measure ppms of runoff. In soil its something that just isnt necissary. Check water p.h add nutrients if desired and water plants its that easy. Most "soils" are ammended , buffered an p.h corrected . Ffof is going to serve you well but keep your eyes open for cal mag deficiencies as NONE of the fox farm soils or nutrients have more than trace amounts that arent enough.

Wow. Lotta different advice here.

I would say if the op is on week 8 and the plants are still alive the soil is long depleted. If it wasn't, it was after the flush.

Salts build up in soil over time even if you feed properly. There is always some extra if they are getting enough. The soil holds on to the nutrients and they don't all just come out together because you flushed and the meter said it was the same.

But if the runoff came out relatively clear I would follow one of the suggestions above and start back on a light feeding. It should be added at the end of he flush. I usually go down to half or a third of what I was giving them and work up only if they show they need more.

Pictures really would have helped.

Just do what I do.. Buy general hydroponics flora kleen. last 10 days of plants life.. give it 1 good dose of florakleen.. then plain water.. the florakleen then last time ever giving water give it alot.. then dry out.

once u apply florkleen you'll notice yellowing comes fast (which you want).

After flushing with straight water then using florakleen ... I'll never go back to straight water.

florakleen just seems to work better IMO
