irradiating cannabis

I started this thread to discuss the pros and cons of using gamma radiation for decontamination of medicinal cannabis, to prevent microbial contamination from fungal spores.

So I see this as a pro since I already have an auto-immune disease (MS). My understanding (limited) of radiation tells me gamma is the worst of the three, but not necessarily the worst choice for this application. Since it passes through the pot it seems less than likely you are going to have any radon gas created when you smoke it.

Snippet: Radiation sickness is the cumulative effect of all this damage on a human body that's been bombarded with radiation.

Proof of what? That the science on "radiation" has been done? It has, and some of the links talk about cannabis as well. I do not know if any of you read the links, or even believe anything you read anywhere. I guess none of you really have anything to add then?

Aaaaannd there it is. Didnt take long for the LP info to reveal itself. Ive never once heard a patient say they see the benefit unless they have a SERIOUSLY compromised immune system. IE HIV/AIDS.

I am not trying to prove anything. I am trying to have a discussion, see it from different viewpoints, share articles about it. This is not a static issue, it is dynamic. As new research is done and uncovered we can learn more. Right now we know almost nothing due to prohibition on research for 70+ years. They are working on new and better methods of sterilization but it takes time. I have MS, so I am at a greater risk from infection from microbes and spores, thus I have to weigh the pros and cons.

And FYI, there is gamma radiation used on many of the foods you eat, as well as other items. It is even used to sterilize medical equipment. I am pretty sure none of you read ALL the articles since I am still trying to get through the NCBI one. Lots of good info, perhaps even some proof of whatever it is you are looking for.

Understood. I have read about that and do not doubt it. I have purchased bags of pot over the years and had some that was moldy or go moldy and it is nasty. So BM or private grows can have this as well. You know, not all growers are equal right. My wife has not purchased much from Tweed, only when I cannot get her some. She finds the street pot is better. We cannot afford a dispensary.
