Newb 1st Grow ( Nirvana Blackberry : Soil : 300w LED : 3x3 tent )

Update time again. I was really hoping to have a good one for you all but it has not done much in the way of stretching at all. It does not look unhealthy but only shot up a few inches over the last couple weeks. I reached out in the scrog thread and it seems like I should have had the net up before switching to flower, so I put it in about 12 inches from the soil. It has a lot of buds forming so that is good, just kind of worried that it did not stretch much...

Yeah I think setting your net a little earlier might have served you well, but hey learning experience. Either way you have a lot of good tops up there and she looks healthy as hell. Probably didn't stretch much just because of her genetics. Looking good man!

  • Fed FFBB , said fuckit to the net, it was done growing up and I didn't have it on early enough. Some of the ones I tucked held their position so it kind of worked. Next time I will be more prepared with the net before flowering starts.

  • Color is a lighter green. Will have to start looking at nutrient pics to see if I am missing something. Not looking bad but want to make sure to catch anything before it becomes a problem. Buds are starting to look legit!

well shoot,, its hard to complain here,, what a pretty plant,, and those pictures,, i want to make a poster out of one of them,, that top shot,,, with a tent that big and a light that powerful,, maybe try a longer veg and fill that tent up!!!,,, but then again,, such an awesome plant

Thanks for stopping in and for the comments! Didn't really know what to expect with the first grow but I think I would do two of these for the next go around, that or a longer veg. I was kind of afraid of outgrowing the pot as well. (again no experience.) The blackberry grows I seen pics of stretched a lot more so I was also scared it was going to get out of control
If you (or anyone) would like a larger version of any of the pics just let me know. My camera isn't high end enough for poster size prints but I can make some nice desktop backgrounds if wanted. Will try to get some updated pics up soon and do some peeks at the trichomes.

Update mostly for pics I have not mentioned my watering schedule before so just a FYI. Watering every other day 1 full gal. It has been happy with that since flower, my water is about 5.2ph so I have been putting in about 1/2 tsp of Ph up to bring it into the 6s.

  • Fed Fox Farm Tiger Bloom (Seeing if the stronger food would help with the color)

  • Lights up full power (322w-330w) it settles in to the lower 320s after it has been on for a bit
• Day 91 (34 Flower)

Relatively speaking I guess, it is nothing facy though. A 60$ macro conversion lens is all you need to look at the trichomes if you already have a decent zoom lens.

Thanks! Some say defoliate some say don't worry, I just went with the easier route for the first grow. I also felt weird about taking so much off of a plant. Leaves down in there yellowing get trimmed,other than that it seems happy as is.

Well I learned my lesson the hard way with powdery mildew in my first grow. I heard all the usual "the fan leaves are solar panels" bs but it was more important to me to have buds. I defoliated like a son of a gun and had more buds than I could use.

Creating airflow is one of the keys to having healthy plants. With indica type bushes, for me, it's mandatory not to mention, you get better buds imo. I don't blame you though. When I first did it felt "wrong" but after the first time, I'm a defoliating hound now...

Nothing but sugar leaves and buds. Fannie's were long gone.

  • Buds bulking up a bit with some little popcorns down low now. The buds sites have really started getting thicker down the stems, I will have a few decent size buds when they are done. I do have a little bit of cupping going on at the top. I think it is just the Rh has been 20% the last few days, soil is moist so It doesn't seem like it needs water. Added a little bowl of water to give a little extra moisture. I stopped feeding it every other watering as well because it seems to be happy. Smell has not been super strong with this strain but it is very sweet. Very happy thus far, trichs are a little more milky than last week but not too much change.

Man, every time I open the tent and that smell hits me The buds on the original 4 tops are fat sticky and large but some of the other ones in the middle are making a game of it. Lots of smaller buds all the way down the stems now, juts a long sparkly trail down the the base. I may try to do a re-veg experiment after the initial chop but hard to say at this point, everything seems to be bulking up so fast they may be decent size when all is said and done.

Still a bit of cupping at the top but no worse than before. I see a few spots on some leaves so I am wondering if it was a humidity/nutrient thing. Still keep an eye out but at this point I am super happy. I can not wait to see some of these cleaned up..

I just got a new gadget a few days ago, basically a thermostat that automatically ups the fan speed whenever the probe (put in the canopy) gets above a settable temperature.
You also set a minimum fan speed, so it doesn't turn right down at night or when it's cold.

Sometimes at night, which coincides with their nighttime, I'll have a visitor over and turn the Hyperfan way down to its quietest to have a chat. Then I might get drunk and forget it, the tent getting pretty hot for a few hours in the morning.
This is the ultimate prevention for that, I'll never have to worry - it will always kick the fan up when it starts getting hot in there.

The one downside I've found so far, is that sometimes it will kick my fan to loud levels while I've got the window open. Slightly disrupting to my privacy methods.

Thanks for the tip! I have just been running the fan at the same speed 24/7, I will look into that. I do have all fans on a smart switch though so if I need to cut them off quick "siri goodnight" into the phone and they cut off.

It is a combo of Fox Farm Ocean Forest, worm castings and perlite. It seems to be doing well with a little added nutes in flower, but that is about it. I think there was a top off with castings at the beginning of flower as well. I will probably use the house compost eventually or try to make the organic super soil found on the forum. This was quick and easy for the first go around though.

I use something that isn't exactly what you're looking for, with your wireless setup, but it's pretty cool.
It's called the Chirp, and it's a stand alone chip on a stick that you leave in your soil.
It chirps like a cricket, a little alarm, whenever the soil moisture drops to a settable level.
It also has a light sensor so it wont go off during the night period.

For just the trichrome shots, you can do that with a $40 USB microscope off ebay

I've had a USB microscope a good while now but I can't seem to get as close to the trichomes as shown in those pics in this journal . it's 80x too ! prolly doing it wrong
