Growing White Widow: I Need Some Advice

Hello All,
I am growing White Widow in SOG. I just started week 4 of bloom and I cant believe how thick and bushy the leaves are. They are really shading the buds beneath as the main cola grows. I know that I should defoliate, but in order to do that, it would require me to remove A LOT of the leaves.

I would greatly appreciate some advice from people who have grown this strain before. Thank you.

Leave the leaves alone. Bud sites develop just fine in the shade taking their nourishment from all the food those big fan leaves make and circulate throughout the plant. Much more efficient than the tiny bud leaves can hope to be. If something happens like you forget to water and your plants dry out badly it will drop the weakest leaves and if you've taken off a lot already the plant will really suffer.

Later when the plant is getting near the end many leaves may start to yellow as the plant draws mobile nutrients from them as is normal. If there is a high level of nutrients available in the soil/rez they may stay dark green until the end which will leave too many nutes in the bud and make them less tasty.

I've tried both ways over the last 15 years and defoliating always gave smaller yields. Expect debate to follow. :)

I personally don't touch the plants until you see small flowers appear towards the base of the plant then plant by plant I strip all bud and leave of the bottom third of the plant (or where the lights not getting to).

then drill holes in the top of the container and tie all stems down so to create a large canopy THEN just leave them alone. works every time.

I am not sure what you would call it maybe LST, bowl training, lolly pop grow what ever who cares it works well

I have same problem my rooms 2.5m wide and less than a meter deep I have managed this time to fill the area with one lovely canopy it was a right pain in the butt but its worth the aggro

No I burned some candles too. Hah !

Shit no, this was under a 600 with 10 CFL sidelights @ 45 - 60 Actual watt. So it was pushing 1200 Watts for the room. Now I added a 125 LED, About all that place can take. That bright white glow behind the plants (in pic attached) are the 10 CFL buried behind foliage.

Not to hijack your thread but this is what's in the oven now, 3.5 weeks in flower.
