Cob help desk

There are a lot of users great at making these diy lights

Me... Not so much.
I don't want to randomly message people asking for help
I've been reading and researching cob diy for over a year and I'm just now gonna try it out finally
All the tech talk and specs can get confusing
It is actually pretty simple it seems but all the build threads go into so much scientific detail it's like the basic stuff gets overlooked
That's just my opinion
I've hooked up countless car stereos and and I'm fairly handy but all the Mumbo jumbo kinda intimidated Me from making a light before now

So instead o making a whole thread to ask a simple question I thought maybe some experts can chime in on any questions from the newbies
Kind of like others that have been closed
Riu has become pretty popular for the led section and often referenced on other sites
I've been around a while and seems everyone converted to diy and suggests everyone else do the same

So help me out here

I'll go first
I am wanting to buy this kit

http://www.rapidled.com/vero29-triple-cob-array-kit/

It seems really well priced I'm not sure if these are last generation veros or not either way I know they will perform well
Compared to other kits of the same wattage I don't think the price can be beat
Plus it comes with the enclosure and fan and to me looks very professional assembled (looks more clean than aluminum frames imo)
So here's my question
I'm not confident in my soldering skills I know veros can accept the pico ezmate instead of soldering so I'm wondering where can I buy these
I don't want to buy the wrong thing or buy the kit an not be able to get it running right away
Would these connectors fit into the cob to connect them?
http://www.rapidled.com/all-non-xm-l-leds/
Or would you suggest I buy a soldering iron and just try it lol

Never mind I emailed them and this is what they said
So is there any place to buy what I'm looking for ? A 6 inch strand of wire with molex connectors on both ends?

You can use the molex connection with wagos and wire in series. Just stay close to the 130v ratings for the molex.did you ask if those were gen7 vero?

I forgot to ask if they were the newer veros
So you are saying I can hook it up like this :

Driver+------ > cob >molex >wago > -----molex > cob >molex >wago > ----molex > cob >driver-

I could probably figure out the soldering if this won't work

Yeah just make sure you go positive to negative with each wago for series. Whats the driver voltage for that kit?i cant open the link from my phone here in the deep woods

If its 143v max i would say that kit is for the 37v vero and you should be fine even though the molex has a max of 130v.if your worried just solder with 18ga solid core.YouTube will show you how to solder like a pro

Yeah I think instead of messing with all the connectors I'll just practice soldering
The driver that comes with the kit is
Mean Well HLG-240H-C2100A
Looks like the max is 119 volt

This way I can just buy the kit and won't need to buy anything else besides a soldering iron

Search the forums, there is a member who created and app where you can just input number or cobs, amperage and all that shit and it tells you exactly all the needed info, from watts used, PPFD and that shit.
my search fu is lacking, any chance for a link to that app?

i dont want to say mike @ rapid is wrong but i think @welight recently addressed the picos and i think they got a spec bump on voltage?

if soldering and pico connector voltage is your hurdle run a slew of vero 50V in parallel problem solved

there are few popular cobs that dont have solderless holders

soldering COBs is not the boogeyman, check this out from Bridgelux
My only caveat on this is use a larger bevelled tip ie 4mm, we only use large tips for soldering COBs as it gets better heat into the immediate area, soldering wire to COBs should only take 1-2 seconds, once your wire and COB pads are pretinned so hard to make a mistake
Cheers
