Anyone have any experience with their lights ? They look like a really good deal and their PPFD specs are pretty impressive.
Im looking for cca 800 PPFD coverage and their lights look impressive, at least on the paper, Im thinking to ditch the DIY altogether because at the end the price for Budmaster lights and my DIY 11x 35900@1050mA setup is marginal.

I've used the COBs, GODs the HPS and the Emerson ones... I like them all and since they are built modular, you can make custom builds by mixing and matching the modules and drivers. The GODs are amazing for trichome production and very intense lighting, the COBS are great for scrogs and sea of green.

I'm looking for new lights for a cab and only have 40 inches of headroom I heard the gods are really strong and probably would be too intense for me

Im lurking at HPS (mostly) and COB series as Ive read blurples are not that great after all. I run SOG so hell yeah. My only problem right now is should I take 3x smaller panels like HPS-6 or 2 bigger like HPS-9. I like PPFD on these HPS models, modular as you said, 3Y warranty, looks like professionally crafted unit.

Im little disappointed though that COB series has such poor PPFD specs against HPS series, or maybe Im just out of touch what to expect from COB performance:

HPS-9: 1020@60cm
COB-9: 625@60cm

here is a nice review on HPS-6 model

ahaha just figured thats your review mate lol

EDIT: what are the temps on HPS-6 @ 50cm ? Can I lower it close to the canopy without stressing them or does the HPS-6 generate lots of heat ?

Tnx

I dont mind paying little extra to keep it low on the electricity bill, and besides HPS (the real ones) are so 2000-ish :p

Osram makes great LEDs, but that's dropping 2200+ pounds for lights that may not outperform a 1000 watt Gavita.
HPS being a little less efficient is a total non-issue when you're paying an 1800 pound premium.

This seems more like some irrational dislike to HPS or irrational love to overpriced LEDs.

:lol: @ dropping 1800 quid extra to save 30 quid on your electricity bill.

Have you considered the Amare Tech Solar or Pro series?

The new ones have top bin Cree COBs if I'm not mistaken. As well as UVB. If you're in the US, shipping would be cheaper as well.

For a high end LED, unless you doubt the efficacy of including green and yellow spectrums, I would consider "white" full spectrum LED panels.

Although some would prefer not to spend the wattage on diodes/cobs with output in the 450-600nm range.

Budmaster lights look like extremely high build quality and it looks like it uses quality components, but you would get more bang for your buck, and a more uniform distribution of light (if you build a big rig) going the DIY route. So the smart money says DIY.

@frica
Yeah I know mate, but I cant stress enough how much I have to keep the electricity bill down, because cops here check the electricity average with el. companies for busting us guys. If electricity would not be a problem, oh boy Id go all nuts, there is nothing more beautiful seeing buds under that yellowish tint.

@Rundskop
Yeah Ive heard of Amare, but them prices are more than Im willing to pay, although I dont doubt they're great,but for that funds I think Id rather have some Spectra COB9 lights.
http://www.spectradesignlab.com/spectra-cob9-system.html

Bigger coverage, looks like very well build unit, nice display on side, you can use Ardunio and run some shit with it (not sure what though haha).

@Johnnycannaseed1
If I was to build my DIY 3590, Id have to refer back to specs I got from using DIYCOBCALULCATOR.

11x 3590 - 50€ = 550€
11x pin head heatsinks - 27€ = 297
2x Mean Well 1050mA drivers - cca 150
Holders - cca 40€

plus the frame, wiring, thermal paste and own labour and were at cca 1200€. Thats not that far away from Budmaster HPS-9 unit, that comes at cca 1290€ + warranty, modular build, better PPFD, less wattage used.

Why not swap the 3590sfor Citi CLU48 1212, cobkits was doing a xmas special on them at $10 a pop, which means you can get 12 @ $120 and have plenty of change in your pocket http://cobkits.com/shop/

Also I am willing to bet that the Budmaster PPFD figures are based on readings on centre of the light, so sure they look impressive but I bet if you measure 1 foot, 2 foot off centre those figures will drop off significantly.

Trust me for the money you will be hard pressed to buy an off the shelf light that performs better than a well designed diy setup.

Icemud did a pretty solid work and review on couple of Budmaster lights on some other forums and numbers are pretty impressive.

But OK lets assume I buy 1212s for much cheaper, still have to import that shit here in EU, pay import tax, pay VAT which is more that 20%, some other shit they always make up and worst of it goes thru customs and I am supper paranoid with that kind of shit going thru customs. You never know if they tell the cops or not and Im not willing to find out that hard way. Better 10x safe than 1x sorry. Thats my moto.

Yeah Icemud is a solid tester so you can trust what he says;)

With regards to the other stuff you mentioned, you would be importing Chips not actual growlights so no need to worry, plus why not send to a friends address if you are that worried?

And with regards to tax/import just get it sent as a gift of low value and that takes care of that!

Yea, the Gods are very intense. You need at least 24" of vertical distance from lights to plants for anything bigger than the GOD4 or you may get bleaching and as you move up in the size lights I would actually extend that distance to about 30". They are awesome lights though, and really produce a lot of trichomes. The Cobs are better for less vertical height.

So many options these days
I think I'm gonna get two quantum board 90 watt kits as soon as I can preorder
Not a whole lot of power but I should be able to get them nice and close

I might have another look into 1212s. Are these good ?

I really dont know much about 1212s as I have been reading mostly applies to 3590

Budmaster made by these guys:
https://sanxinbao.en.alibaba.com/productlist.html aka Evergrow
Discontinued COB manufacturing, I confirmed this about a week ago, "budmaster UK" the reseller/rebrander obviously still has stock.
I have two of the Monster series and they work fine, as always it comes down to watts and the old 3 watt panels are not the way to go these days (unless you get a good price like $1/watt or less).
They have a new series called Saga , which combines 3 and 5 watt diodes with some additional whites.
Budmaster for some reason is not carrying the Saga line from Evergrow.

They seem to have stopped making COB lights due to lack of demand (presumably they mean in Europe).
