Which Chinese LED Are the Best? - Comparing Mars Hydro, Viparspectra, and Roleandro

I use the shit out of the "600w" galaxyhydros from amazon. Ive got 2 of them. The plants love them. I also have 3 300 w Mars hydros and 1 480 watt Mars. The galaxyhydros are the best out of the bunch

stay smokin'

hey shroominnm, how's it going?

if you feel like experimenting, try the one i linked above. after finding it i think im going to buy one and sell the viparspectra. it doesn't have the useless led's like the ir or uv that do nothing other than generate heat but has all the spectrums actually used by the plant and in the right ratio. it's like someone built a light just for growing dank.

i saw this and looking at it, it seems like the best. it has the right amount of led's in the right ratio for good plant growth as well as 5w diodes.

I have the 450w in a 2x4 as veg/auto light. Have two autos 3 weeks under it, they seem to like it. Also some photo seedlings. Has nice amount of white diodes among the red and blue. With veg switch on the light reminds me alot of mh. Blue/white light. Both switches somewhat blurple, more like a light pink light. Doesn't look quite so purple in person. Its not cobs or cmh, but for a little over a hundred dollars and what I'm using it for I'm happy with it.

LEDwizard over on reddit is a smart as f**k guy who knows his led's

https://www.reddit.com/r/microgrowery/comments/2nhcma/red_white_blue_full_spectrum_an_led_color_choice/

this is the reason i kinda want one of those lamps.

check the usable spectrum's mentioned in the ad and compare them to the write up. it's dead on.

Good read. I like the light so far. Lights up 2x4 really well. Puts off some heat but very manageable. Fans are quiet, barely hear it right next to tent. I thought about getting the 600w, at the time it was only ten dollars more than the 450.

i have xp with mars 300, it will grow buds. one or 2 of them for a noob grow is ok.

i would never buy one now though, nor recommend except for a 1 plant newbie grow

agreed. i want to try the one i linked to in the first page, though I'm probably going to do a COB DIY build either towards the end of this grow or the beginning of next grow.

When I was a kid, I got into pc gaming on a shitty $600 Comaq to play runescape, Sim games, and strategy games on. It wasn't anything amazing, but it got the job done and I had fun with it without breaking the bank. When I got older and found that I truly loved PC gaming, I went out and dropped 1600 on a bunch of components for a custom build that suited my exact needs and have done that every 4 years since.

Same deal here. I'm not looking for a commercial grow or to create the god of setups. Just a budget, entry level, deal to test the waters. This is the newbie section, and a lot of people here are using chinese LEDS. Why not analyze which compaq is less shitty? Later on if you find out you really love it, you can build that badass $500-1000 COB array, but right now I just want a cheap compaq that gets the job done.

Well you should add the fact that "blurple" LEDS simply don't finish plants as well as other things! Skip CFL's too!

If your not going COB......think about a 600w HID set-up! Very good for up to a 4x4 area and it'll grow the pants off a "blurple" LED!

I honestly think the Meizhi reflector series will prove itself. I have planted aquariums and for years couldn't get it right. I bought a $60 led on Amazon and they grew out of my aquarium. So we will see. I'm running two 300s. Sprouted two weeks ago exactly

None of them make a whole lot of sense considering you can get a scalable 100W CXB3590 COB kit with a 5 year warranty (lifetime on driver) for $199 from timber.

As the above poster mentioned, if you simply can't afford $200 bones you're better off going HID.

that makes no sense considering i can build a better one from scratch for almost half that. all you get for the markup is the warranty.

the 199 version is a 100 Watt Citizen CLU048 (2) COB. not a cxb3590. the kit you talk of starts at 235 for 2 cob.

diy cxb3590 with a little know how costs about $60-70 per light. 35ish for the cob, 3ish for the housing, 15ish for the driver, and <10 for the heat sink and fan. i build gaming pc's as a hobby, so i already have a large syringe of arctic silver. all you need is one syringe for $15 and it will care for you on many cob builds. three lights cost around $180-200 as opposed to the $400 from timber.

this does not include crafting a mount or housing which you will have to do either way.

If you can build a better one for half that, why in the world are you considering a throwaway panel? Thanks for the correction on the Cree vs Citizen, posting from phone and didn't double check the website. I too build PCs and personally would never throw a $10 heat sink and fan on any CPU/GPU that saw any load. That statement alone leads me to believe our perspectives and priorities are far different.

In any case, I started with vipars and they would have gotten the job done for sure. In the end, neither the first or second pair of vipars met my reqs but I wouldn't hesitate to leverage them if necessary.

My God is this frustrating! A guy asks about some led stuff, gets unsolicitated cob opinions shoved down his throats and then the cobbers are not even able to agree what shit costs. What a kindergarten.
We all know they're better than regular led. You win. Now fuck off and shove it up your ass
Just trying to prevent the inevitable man. You really think as he (or anyone) scales up down the road he's going to simply buy more panels? Show me a single legit opp where a fleet of vipars or mars are in play...

A legit opp? Like have you guys all got off your trolley or wtf is going on here? There are not many here who grow more than 6 plants and for that "Hobby" those lights work fine. i don't know where all this shit came from but the sudden "being legal" shure seams to make a bunch of people here forget what they did AND enjoyed, a few years back.

Nah man, my point was pricing is such that a killer HID or COB setup can be had for a great price and if he has the skills to go full DIY, it's beyond me why someone would deal with those lists of cons when they dont have to, know what I mean?

Fine and dandy.
Wasn't the point of the thread tho.
We all know about cobs. It still wasn't the question. Know what I mean? TO sits down to compile his stuff and then has a question partainung THAT.
Just deal with the question at hand not what totally difffernt light is better. Cos it always implies the TO is an idiot and needs lecturing. I know you didn't mean to, but I see this here in damn near every thread and it pisses me off.

because i bought the panel before i knew what a COB is. :dunce:

the <$10 heat sink is from an industrial supplier that sells high end aluminum heat sink waste. this means that a large(say 2'X2') heat sink was made but some of it was not needed so it was cut off and sold as scrap to the company i buy from. this means i can buy these heat sinks for <$4 a pound. meaning i can get a much larger heat sink at a fraction of the cost. on top of that, these heat sinks are much too large for a cpu.

as far as cpu, mine are always overclocked. i only run liquid cooling. i have never ran a heat sink/fan combo.

sorry guys, this happens in forums. i didn't intend it, but sometimes conversations go way off the walls before getting back on track. however, this is viper's thread. he is the only one who's bitching matters. since he isn't, you guys are now doing the same thing as us by derailing a derailed thread further by bitching about how derailed it is.

not to mention how much can be learned from derailed threads.

I actually ended up grabbing 2 roleandros. Amazon was randomly having a 30 min lightning sale on them for $55 a pop. I couldn't resist haha. They aren't blurple, but I might get a vipaspectra to supplement with some blue.
If it's the 3000k all white light spectrum ones, they aren't good for MJ. Seedlings stretch like crazy, PPFD is horrible unless directly under the light. I tested their 300w and 600w. Better to stick with a good blurple.
