WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. officials are expected to announce an imminent response, including sanctions, on Thursday for Russia's interference in the U.S. presidential election by hacking American political sites and email accounts — an effort that ensures action before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.
Sanctions against Russia or its government officials would tighten the economic screws on an already heavily sanctioned country and could also further aggravate tensions between Moscow and Washington.
The move also would put Trump in the position of having to decide whether to roll back the measures once in office and could potentially cause difficulties for his nominees during their confirmation hearings in the Senate, where support for sanctioning Russia is strong.
"We have to sanction Russia for these cyberattacks (and) send a clear message to the incoming administration that there is a lot of bipartisan support in Congress for going after this," Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., told The Associated Press by phone from Latvia while on a trip to discuss security issues, including cybersecurity, with eastern European allies. She said lawmakers on both sides of the aisle were in favor of quick action.
A little too late for Clinton, but what the fuck, tough shit, right?
Maybe this will at least will show who the "true" Americans are, those Trump supporters and Trump himself, who continue to state that Russia wasn't involved, that they won the election fair and square, despite the fact that Trump still "lost" the election by over 2.9 millions votes, based primarily (Benghazi? Clinton Foundation?) on those emails that actually meant shit, at least to the FBI (thanks Comey) that were hacked by Russian intelligence, or the majority of Americans (that don't mean shit, right?) who believe that Russia interfered to elect Trump, who now Russia will use for their own benefit (bet on it).
Come on all you Trump supporters on this site, defend him now, and tell me how the Russians didn't influence this election and help to elect that abomination named Donald Trump.
Have fun, and give me an excuse why this election wasn't a farce.
