Water, paper towel, medium.??

I've always just used the paper towel method but this time I'm going with a glass of water then paper towel and then into media. Well 24 hours in water and thing are popping all over. Is there a point to the paper towel or should I reserve it for slower beans? There is a second part if you will? Why put the planted seeds in a humidity doom? I've always just put them under the lights so when they came up they came up into light. meh c'est la vie Que Sera Sera it is what it is.

There is a growing amount of seed breeders that tell you not to "soak" seeds in water first.

The reason is if you use distilled or have water with low dissolved oxygen in it. It'll drown the seeds...

I does work, but unless your solid with doing it,,,Why change from something already working for you?

I mean it's not like it will improve anything with the plant!

Paper towel only then straight to medium for me.

I popped 10 seeds in paper towel last time, 9 had 1' roots in 36 hours, one didnt pop so I left it. Forgot about it entirely for about a week, it had a 4" root when I checked it!!

I see no need to drown the seed in a bowl of water. Be like nature, moist and warm

There is no point to the paper towel method other than checking germ rates. I have it on good authority that ag crops around the world are not put in a paper towels before being sown.
