Pictures - DWC transfer suggestions HELP ? Day 3 Germination Sprout. 12/27/2016

I germinated via Rapid Rooter 2 unknown BAG seeds and 1 Critical seed. All 3 have sprouted and have risen. The fury tap root has feel below the rapid rooter. The the longest in length is about an inch long with an average of 3/4 inches. I would like to KNOW if transferring these Germination stage seeds are appropriate, necessary or detrimental ? I would ALSO like to know if I should add nutrients if I do transfer ? Which from my knowledge would be hurtful during this stage of life. With normal water at a Ph.5.8 would be necessary for a short term before adding nutrients. However, I'm a newbie with DWC so it's still a quesion I'd appreciate a response for. If nutrients are necessary the are the list of brands I have readily available. Advanced nutrients, technaflora, and heavy 16.

Cool my first DWC transfer performed 12/26/16 took 16 exact days before transferring. Should I have done it sooner or waited ? Also for these specific plants how long until I transfer ?

You should let them get some roots out of the rooter before installing in your DWC setup. I like to get my clones or seedlings a few inches tall with lots of roots so they quickly get roots into the water and are tall enough that I can set them on top of a 2 ball thick layer of hydroton then bury the stem with some of the plant above the pot. A little hand feeding for a couple of days and roots are in the soup.

I have sprouted seeds right in the net pots and let them figure things out to tho so there's no set time to do it.

12 - 3.5" net pots filled with balls and sifted promix so the roots had a path to follow down and 5 seeds in each pot. 5 strains to grow out a bunch of crosses I'd made with autos to find which would actually auto and breed those. Turned into a real jungle.



My current grow is some of the seeds I got from that experiment that are getting close to harvest and are bearing seed for the F2 generation.

Wow thanks you for you amazing time and effort. I quickly gain ideas and gain knowledge from your response. I have a few questions. In this set up I see that Hydroton is visible but what is the substance in the middle ¿ Also I may consider trying this set up for future seeds, will I just be adding the seed as seen here and waiting for a sprout or is this a transfer station ready for seedling that have already sprouted ¿ if this is where you sprout the seeds, what will I do when the plants get larger¿ do I transfer them into another larger Net pot and bucket or keep it within this station until fully grown ¿ thank you.

That was an experiment to see if they would sprout and grow into the net pots ok and they all did but a few. I just ran some ProMix thru a 1mm mesh screen to get a finer mix to keep the seeds wet as they sprouted. Same mesh as mosquito screen for windows. It's best to use well-rooted clones or seedlings to put into the net pots and you shouldn't try to switch to larger net pots later as the roots are all tangled up in the first pot. Those are 3.5" or 9cm and that's big enough for even large plants if they have support later when they get larger. I have some tubs that use larger pots.

You are best off using well rooted clones or seedlings to start your DWC with. I make lots of my own seeds so always have plenty to play with and If a bunch don't make it it's no great loss to me.

When a plant get big in a 5gal pail the nute levels need constant watching as there is only 15L or less actual water in there and the level goes down fast so the ppm goes up fast and the pH bounces around a lot. In a tub there is much less fluctuation of the water etc so it's more relaxing. I've been doing my DWC grows in those tubs for 15 years and just love them. RubberMaid tubs are tough and softer plastic and I've never had one split after 40 - 50 grows in them.

I usually sprout my seeds or start clones in these seed starter 9-hole pots with promix then once well rooted put them into DWC or pots of soil.

You are amazing for taking the time to share this with me. It's has been reflected in my peers how much you've taken the time to show your knowledge. You bestowed many ideas upon me. I am actually already looking into food grade containers I could host a tub in. I now understand what the substance in the middle is. Will I be able to use your growing technique via tub using a rapid rooter and Hydroton as a medium rather than the substance you used ¿ Great, that is what I assumed initially would happen if I transfer them from the small containers. I just had to be sure. Awesome, so basically I can germinate them into my rapid rooter cover it with Hydroton and set it up in the tub, correct ? I appreciate your time it's been great hopefully you keep on giving, my forum is open to everyone. Haha wish I could say the same as a patient in Massachusetts it's hard to get seeds man and the stuff is overpriced. Idk when I could start your amazing project considering my sees are all gone and I have no way of obtaining them. These were given to me by an unknown account user. Who really took the time to view my garden and suggested I grow cannabis using the DWC method. I'm confident I'll get more seeds some how so I can begin this project. Once you have roots in those rapid rooters you can just put a double layer of balls in the bottom of the net pots and set the plant, rooter and all on top then fill the pots with balls. For the first couple of days you'll have to use a turkey baster or something to suck up some nutes and dribble it through the pots to keep them moist but once or twice a day is lots.

Seeds are a problem for lots of folks. Much easier to get them here in Canada. I'm still growing plants that I got seeds for 15 years ago. I'll grow a few of any strains I want to keep every few years just to make fresh seeds to keep the genetics viable. I've sent and received many seeds from friends I've met in forums like this over the last 8 years or so. The plants I'm growing now are from an accidental cross of an auto plant that pollinated my regular girl and I have over 200 seeds left from that union. It was a cross I planned to make anyway but I only needed 20 seeds or so. I'm breeding these to get an autoflowering version of the regular plant.

Yea I have been doing that I believe it is referred as the "drip method" . It was freed and advice to me by a master cannabis grower who suggested it will help improve root growth. In which it has in just 1 day of using it. Start date 12/30/16. . I can already see my roots doubling and getting slightly longer. I also have been adding foliar into a sanitized garden squirted and drenching the leaves. With my set up the leave dry immediately as though my environment mimicked the sun. Yes that is sort of how I cam across seeds as well. Me being from a state where cannabis is fully legalized for recreational use the user felt happy and eager to send me seeds. This person has also been tremendously happy with my set up and how what he states "exc. look" my plants appear. I don't think I'll be receiving anymore, not that I would want too. He's done enough. It would be useful to have some at this point being that I am a hobbyist Gardner and this journey I'm taking on cannabis is an art i would like to prosper in. It's hard to achieve this goal without the necessary resources. Unfortunately, in my state although cannabis is legal, it is extremely difficult to get seeds at an affordable price for a low income patient...
