is it a myth?

It's supposed to inhibit the expression of the male chromasome. There's still a chance to get male seeds. Just that it's considerably lower than normal.

Is it a myth that "collidial silver" will make your seeds female? Is there anyone that understands the science of how this works(if it does work)
Not a myth

Products like Florel with Ethephon are used to prevent seeds in grapes. You don't spray the seeds lol.
It can prevent male flowers from forming on those pesky slightly hermie plants. I had pretty good luck with the product Reverse, back when it was still sold. Florel is way more potent than Reverse was. Florel is a concentrate, reverse wasn't

spraying the colodial doesnt give you seeds though, you spray it on a female plant, and that female instead of flowerring will produce pollen sacs, you let the sacs mature and collect there pollen, then use that pollen to pollenate a female plant.
Gotcha! Thanks!

So that means i cant grow plants snd spray one with cs and expect to get seeds thru the same grow?

colloidal silver can be toxic at high levels but that's to do with ingestion and it requires days of repeated ingestion to cause serious effects at the levels youll be working with

if you had collidial silver toxicity in your body you would begin to turn blue and injury only happens when people take ridiculious amounts in hopes itlll cure there auto immune illness

its used by humans as an alternative to modern medicines as an antimicrobial aid to fight bacterial infections of the blood and body

and yes if you have a girl plant you spray her with the strongest you can find repeatedly day aftter day and she will grow both sex organs on her

because the female that you've just forced into mutation only carrys the X and there is no Y chromosome present ..ALL! the offspring will be female

the mutated plant can pollinate itself or another plant and all the offspring will still remain female

it is also worth noting that it is said feminized seeds are more likely to produce hermies so a percentage of the offspring may turn hermie on you when you don't want it

it may also be true that if you force a feminized plant to hermie... the offspring is double likely to produce a percentage of hermie prone offspring
so therefore you might want to start with seed from regular seed stock and not begin your endeavor with what is already a feminized seed

that was hard to get worded out
hope it makes sense

You are not supposed to breed with them but selfed seeds from well bred plants having more tendency to hermie is a myth.

No. It inhibits the production of ethylene to stop female flowers and force male pollen sacs. You cross the pollen to another female. The lack of a male chromosome make the offspring female.

No. The smaller the silver particle the better it works.

If making it, use the smallest voltage possible (cell charger) and an air stone to move water around the electrodes.

It doesn't cause hermie off spring. As long as the parents are stable, the off spring will to.

The herm thing is carried over from the days of using stress to make pollen. CS is not stress and just inhibits ethylene.
I grow in a small space so I use fem seeds so I don't have to sex them. I have had one out of many, many fem beans herm on me and it was my fault.

I even make them myself.

And don't smoke the buds you self this way.
Good point!

My breeder said to use a chemical called STS.

I don't make seeds or mess with chemicals yet but it is likely safer and better. I am sorry I don't know more. He has an article in skunk magazine years ago but I don't have the link in this phone.

Guess that wasn't too helpful.

I just clone, its just so fuckin easy but having a big bag of seeds all fem and stable sounds awesome.
