Snapped her stem :(

So this is my first plant, and I was testing my boundaries because although s/he is short, the stem was becoming very thick. Well, I bent too far and the stem snapped right below the second branches in the picture. I've read all the threads and about just leaving it, splinting it, duct tape, among other solutions. I have 2 plants started about 2 weeks behind this one as well. IMG_1662.JPG

I'm just going to leave her and see what happens. It is still connected and the crack isn't really open where it snapped. 4 hours later and most of the plant looks fine. I did notice a fan leaf or two starting to shrivel. Really nervous what I am going to wake up to tomorrow.

Hopefully the side branches I exposed will continue to grow in a few days!

if you can get it to stay back on it will heal up fine especially this early in, if the leaves get floppy its not getting any juice

Doesn't look like a huge break, just let up on the pressure a bit so its closed and it will heal up just fine. I've snapped branches almost all the way through while bending them over and I just straitened them back up and they healed fine.

just be observant of any mould forming around the bend, most cannabis cuttings that thick should heal just fine, is it northan lights? it looks just like a cut i was given once Rudi

Cool thanks guys! I was going to just leave it, but the shriveling fan leaf started to worry me. I braced it with a twig for the night to keep the split completely closed. When I Braced it, I noticed some kind of clear liquid secretion from the plant. Already healing itself it seemsIMG_1670.JPG

You'll be OK, just stake/tie/tape or otherwise hold her so the break is as closed as possible, and watch for signs of rotting/mold (it will form a plant version of a callous, a hard knobby spot that will add uber support at that point in the stem, in the end, it will be a blessing) It will add a few days to veg as it heals the spot, but will also shoot growth hormones to aid that healing, so the short delay is followed by a vigorous growth...

since I love mainlining and LSTing, I have snapped main stems many times and many times this plant amazed me. It has a huge force to recover.
From how it looks, you have 2 options.
1) remove the upper part as it is and this will be your topping, 2 mains will grow, thus you will increase your yeld or
2) just live it in place, maybe a bit of duct tape and this will recover very well

Plant sure is growing very close to the soil, leaves are right in the dirt! Is your light very close? Give her some room to stretch a bit

I am also planning on LST and topping. In hindsight, I probably should have just taken the whole top off, but it was a little lower than I actually wanted to do it, and I panicked.

Light is about 22" above the plant. I still may raise it 6" or so to see if I can get some height. I have some seedlings right next to it as well.

24 hours since the snap and she seems to be doing ok. Today was watering day, so she was drooping even more than usual. I raised the light 8" to see if I could get her to stretch a little taller. New growth still looks good. I'm seeing discoloring on the leaves too. Looks very similar to water marks?IMG_1671.JPGIMG_1675.JPG

just live it be, don't worry about it for a while, the more you worry the more you are tempted to do something which...most likely it will just make things worse. Live it be for a while, do not over water, and she should be grand! It is a very small plant so removing the whole top tip it will do her good. At the moment you have an injured "limb" sitting on top, taking lots of energy and nutrients and making shadow for the lower tips...so...If it would be me...I would just go ahead and remove the top all together

you have 2 options, as I see it, depending what is underneath.
either go with a nice mainlining (but have in mind you are dealing with an indica which is not very tall)
or just a scrog technic (see some ideas) - keep only 4 tips under and you can get the bellow image


or something like this



and then you'll have the hormones redistributed and the plant since is in early flowering will recover nicely.
When the 4 branches will get a bit more taller, then tie them down and live another week or so and then flower.
I personally like keeping the plants as much as possible in vegetation and I like working on the structure.
Now I am doing this grow which will be documented in a diary, one will be pure scrog, the other mainlining (love the mainlining technic, gives good yeld, but takes longer)

by the way, tell a bit more about your setup, start a journal so I can follow, would be nice to see how it will develop.
what soil? do you have led lights? that purple looks like led :)
the top tip...just use it as a clone maybe (if you have space)

Thank you for all the advice. This is my first plant and it definitely shows. I've had the plant braced for 36 hours against the snap. You can still see the break, but the plant is standing up on it's own. I was planning on LST for a nice even canopy of 8 colas. Right now the plant is still in limbo, and to make matters worse, I did what you said I was going to do and decided to top the newest node, which is above the original break LOL. Wow, I am more of a noob than I thought I was going to be. Should I just go ahead and take the top off? The bottom half looks great, top half has all kinds of stuff going on.IMG_1683.JPGNot sure if the leaf damage is my first nutrient issue or if it is a result of me snapping the stem. All of the bad looking stuff is above the break.
