Seems that highly reflective wallls and multiple light sources really help "penetration" because of light coming through at different angles which permits less obstructed light to reach surfaces lower on the plant. Defused light from sky and earth rotation do this outdoors, I think. Inverse square is not relevant on the solar scale but becomes vital in our indoor little worlds.
yes basic light mover @ 1 foot side to side eliminates inverse square law on all lighting recipes lmao

You got DB bin chips, much more available at 4000K than at 3500K like mine.
This is a test to see how they work, If it makes a good amount of but and I hit the numbers I want then there no reason to change from that unless Rahz shows some kind of benefit between the CRIs.

I have to say again. HPS does not cause stretch. If anything it causes faster growth than most sources. And bulbs like the Hortilux Super HPS have quite a bit of added blue spectrums.

The only thing I really noticed about growth when comparing a Hortilux Super HPS next to a Hortilux Daylight Blue was much faster growth with more leaves and nodes sooner under the HPS reflector.

And I use Blockbusters. Which have a very direct down pattern so there is very little crossover from the lights.

This observation supports the Lumens trump spectrum data.

I will ad for growth. Quality and potency is affected differently.
Its the spectrum that HPS provides that make it stretch, Reflectors are great and all but it should equal the same amount of PPFD regardless on what you use. I grow ith HPS and can see the differences quite well. After my grow we will see. The plants dont need to be more than 2ft tall to produce the same G/W numbers its all about the growing style. Just take a look at each area. The plants were all around the same height about a week ago.

Inverse square law most certainly IS relevant on a solar scale! Source of light just starts 93,000,000 miles away, lol

The notion that the laws of physics only apply 'sometimes' is irksome to me, and often leads to many common errors in thinking.

Nice rooms sir!

I think that this really proves that there is more light and more growth as I said. "Stretching" is growth. And those slightly longer internodes make me some pretty massive buds once they all stack together.

But you need all that light to make it happen. I grow bushes. Not scrog or SOG. And I fit it all together when I am done caring for each individual plant like a jigsaw puzzle that stays in the optimal footprint.

much of this (and I was not debating the use of any kind of lamp) is room and grower and plant dependent. My room is free flowing. Plant goes out plant comes in perpetually. I do this for plant count and legal available meds on hand but I care for each plant itself this way and I can get very high quality as well as great yield and continuing variety available.

Here is a pic from recently while I was trying out the new LEC.

We all have very different rooms, needs , styles and goals. And budgets. and the type of lights are just tools to fit these things. Just like the media down at the floor.

By the way. I stick to the 2' rule regardless as I want to bud up as much as their potential allows.

Here are 2 recent plants harvested. Fan leaves have been removed. You can see the plants are all different so "penetration"is important.

I cut no leaves or branches except small lower side cuttings sometimes. And they can all be very different shapes and sizes. I only bend, stake and tie mostly in flower for training.

They look killer, what strain? I was growing 500g/Sq/meter(how ever thats measured, might not be accurate units) strains but they didnt get anything over 17% THC. Im not going for quantity, only quality. Im in the mitten as well and have a 150 Sq/Ft room that is for flower and a 25SQ/FT room for veg. But my Veg is vertical to save space and will eventually be able to hold 24 Plants. I got what youre saying though. HPS works, whats the g/W for the plants above? Looks like that could have some sick numbers.

Thanks man. They are both CH9 Blue Lemon Thai from seeds. I have not had any product tested this year but it used to be about 17% when I used to deal with the dispensary a couple years ago. It has gotten much stronger and even trippy. The LEC has added something even more.

I am only about quality. I used to average about 2 oz with a 30 day from fem seed plant. Then I learned that it is true that mature veg makes more potent complex cannabanoids and terpines so I veg like 6 weeks and started averaging about a qp.

Now I expected to get better at this but I never expected what I just got now that I added the 315 to my little spare bedroom. I use the same #3 nursery pots, ocean forest and 5 to 20 mg per gallon of Pure Blend Pro Grow mixed for each plant when the need water.

And I just got almost 8 ounces of dry top shelf dense Black Widow x Blue Lemon Thai of a monster stretchy pheno. She had foot long bent sideways buds hidden in the foliage.

So it is hard to figure grams per watt but my last 4 harvested plants equaled 550 grams dry solid nugs and they were mostly under a 600 in a 3.5 x 3.5 footprint. I don't put much regard into grams per watt with a multi strain garden of seed plants but even so I am getting close to a gram per watt in 2.4 gallon pots of amended potting soil and bottled natural nutes.

And I never once tried pushing a plant for yield. I just learned how to feed proactively and work the plant height to the light as well as they like.

And of course I am completely ocd about the environment 24 hrs a day and it has taken over my life ;-)

I can relate with the last part, now that it's 12/12 I'm like.. Well I have to stay up till 10pm or get up before 10am lol which works well with my work schedule.

I want to have the most efficient flower room possible. So as I stated g/W is somewhat important for myself as it demonstrates how much I get from the power I used. I've only ever Veged for just short of 2 months at my longest but I did not see much of a difference from that and 1 month. I'll check some more into the longer veg times.

Push for yield on good genetics and I think you will be quite happy, you get great results and your patience will love it. Mine prefer Pineapple Express, OG Kush, GG#4, and soon Dark Plasma I would imagine.

if you could remove the glass from your LEC hoods, you'd get even more lumens and more UVB out of them. they "should" be open rated bulbs if they are the same as my Philips LEC
There are different types of 315W CMH lamps out there. Some are open rated and some are NOT. DO NOT use non open rated lamps in open fixtures!

UV output is negligible with any of these options; the added blue is responsible for the extra frost on these.

If you wanna run UV, you know who to talk to about supplemental lighting!

htg supply, bud! i had to return a 4 ft pure uv T5 cause it fried my plants. they swapped me out a 2 footer instead which i can run a decent distance away from the canopy without making the ladies look like George Hamilton
LMFAO, right?!

I'll have mine on a short cycle timer and a separate circuit. Short cycle so they don't fry everything and separate circuit to shut them down when anyone goes in there.

How long did the lamp run on your timer?
day 1: i had it on for an hour. came in to take a peek and the 2 closest to it were droopy and the leaves had already got a leathery look to them. DOH!

i tried going down to 15 mins jsut a few times a day which was better. but the 2 plants on the opposite side weren't getting any UV so i backed up and punted and got the 2 footer instead and suspended it . much even coverage now
