The big picture is likely both sides emails were hacked; yet only one side leaked. Sounds like someone is pulling the puppet strings of the side left unscathed.

I think the big picture is more about the ascendancy of unelected actors in running the affairs of our government and the world. Those who control the mega corps, the oligarchs, have completely subverted the democracy that WAS a hallmark of America and Western powers.
