I would like for everyone growing indoor to post their experiences so we can share and all try to get better results (if possible).
Lets first try go get some even ground, lumens - are kind of useless but most of us have only lux meters to see light intensity. There is a number that Philips states that one of their Master GreenPower 600W 400V EL HPS agro lamp has a following ratio:
76 lumens = 1 PPF (so we could use this formula as an approximation to change HPS agro lumens to PPF)
At the moment I grow 67% horizontally and 33% vertically (going all horizontal slowly - I failed @ this setup because more work for less yield in my case)
The most limiting factor I can see in Indoor growing is LIGHT - through years I tried different layouts under 600W HPS with AAW(medium):
1.5 x 0.75m with 32 plants (8x4 configuration) in clay pellets - ebb n flow (with liquid nutrients) the strain was White Widow hybrid (8weeks) and i usually netted 390g DRY.
In older setup three growing beds (same) were one by another - they were on rails (same strain same nutrients) and they netted up to 480g DRY (i suspect overlapping lights).
In vertical grow i have this results:
600W HPS Jack Herrer hybrid the circle is about 1.6m diameter and there are around 85 plants in 4 rows (i started mixing my own nutrients now) its a 11week strain and most i netted was 470g DRY.
Last few batches I switched some under these conditions:
1.2 x 0.8m in High Flow DWC 24 plants (6x4 configuration) with my own nutrients under 600W HPS with AAW medium (but another growing space is right next to this so they are touching in 0.8m dimension) so there is little overlapping light - best result 550g DRY under 2 year old HPS bulb.
Now I am testing same light on 1.4 x 0.8m bed with same conditions with 6 and 5 plants per row.
I'll write a template for your input so we can see is it better to go overlapping lights or 1 light per bed or something:
Strain (length in weeks):
Time in VEG (after rooting):
Max size in VEG (right before flowering):
Growing space (size):
Vertical growth:
Layout of plants:
Lighting(overlapping?):
PPFD ranges in growing area (min and max):
CO2 enrichment (if yes than max value):
Soil/Hydro:
Liquid/Salt nutrients:
TOTAL DRY YIELD:
GramPerWatt:
GramPerM2:
EDIT: added vertical and CO2 enrichment
