that might be enough. the hydroton will wick it up into the netpot. just keep an eye on it and if it seems like it's not getting all the way to the rockwool, raise the level until it does.

I'm gonna hold off doing anything for another 2 days or so like dr blaze suggested other then cutting my pump off and hand watering.
I will post back when I see some change or begin to freak out again
Id give you guys some rep or likes if I could figure out how to lol

In my case, the rockwool never returned to its former state after 24/7 watering, even after drying it out, so it might be worth keeping an eye on yours as well. I've never had rockwool fall apart like this, it'd always remain in its firm cube shape.
The surviving seedling from my rockwool mess looked better hours after taking it out of the rockwool and putting directly into hydroton. Just seconding rky's suggestion

Oof i feel your pain. I let my seedlings sit in the soggy rockwool for 3 more weeks before cutting my losses. They all basically stopped growing throughout the entire time.
I heard that hydro was harder, but damn.. i never had problems this early in dirt

I think once we get a handle on things it'll be better. I've never done soil but I wouldn't want to transplant, deal with dirt or bugs lol so hydro it was! I only used rockwool because i still have a bunch of cubes from when I was last growing (i obviously never got that good ha)
Going to try rapid rooters next. Directly in hydroton makes me nervous whenever the pebbles move when i touch stuff, and they dont retain much moisture, if at all. Thanks again rky, id like your posts if i could..

Yeah idk I read so many people who use and love rockwool so I'm guessing it's probably us more then the Rockwool lol

since it's Friday, i'm turn both you guys onto what is almost 100% for me. buy an aerogarden (doesn't have to be the biggest model, just a basic one). get a bag of rapid rooters. the rooters should fit into the holes in the aerogarden (they did on the older models at least). pop a seed in each RR, turn the thing on , cover the top of the RR"s so they are completely dark and give it about a day or 2. the seed will germ, orient it so the tap root is down if needed, take the cover off and let the aerodgarden do it's thing. in about 2.5 to 3 wks, you'll have maybe a 3 to 5 inch tall seedling with roots about 6 to 8 inches long. transfer into your dwc and the roots will be long enough to be hanging in the water and prepare for takeoff!

Funny you mention that. I just googled a DIY earlier. 5 gallon bucket with a pvc misting setup in it. Is that pretty much what you're describing?

nope. like this. the best 50 bucks you'll ever spend. i run RO water with 1ml/gal of dyna gro foliage pro. that's it.

Ok so I pulled the seedling that I originally started to germ on Dec 29th or 30th and placed it in the system on the 3rd or so and the others that went in on the 6th are already bigger so I wanted to see what was going on... Well zero roots except a few that were above the rockwool. Here's a pic

I'll try to remember posting a picture of my stunted seedling if i ever pull it up, but mine looked very close to yours two weeks ago when i pulled it up. Since then, it hasnt grown up at all, just more leaf growth on the first node

Ive been watering using the pump and a timer for my seedling in hydroton, 15 min every 4 hours. Its green and alive at least, but stunted

I raised my water level so it's covering the net pots about 1/4"-1/2" and I'm just going to top feed it by hand. I'm disappointed with the whole method I used because it seemed to be a "tried and true" way to do it.. If I had to take a guess and I was going to use a timer I'd probably set it to come on once a day for 5-10min because I think the rockwool would hold enough moisture from what I've learned so far lol

Yes, i meant for if you end up transplanting to hydroton; i read and tried watering every 4 hours during light on, and once during light off. It's worked so far. But for rockwool, once a day has been good for me, and ive even skipped a day here and there.

Ahhh gotcha! Yeah I didn't think about that but I planted it super low and in pretty sure the bubbles should hit it. She's on her own other then some top feeding
