im in my last week of flower my temps through out the grow were 70-74f lights off 74-80 lights on. The past 2 nights I've upped my day time temps to 85-90f and lowered my night time temps to 65f about a 20-25 degree difference. Would that help my strains turn purple? I know there definitely in the genetics so just want everybody's opinion on how to turn your buds purple in the last week of flower.

Genetics dictate color in Flower period. You want purple grow ( Blue Dream, Blue Widow, Granddaddy Purp, Girl Scout Cookies etc....) What you are doing is just stressing your plants and lowering yields and actually evaporating terpenes by such a high temps. You want a ten degree difference between lights on and off. Never higher than 80 ( preferably 78 ) and not below 65 . You should shoot for 75-65.

because contrary to popular belief, cannabis doesn't herm very easily (strains that don't have this tendency to begin with)
some people think any lil light leaks, temp changes, etc..
I don't think I've ever seen a plant herm when it already doesn't have that tendency to begin with, and conversely most plants that herm?
will herm no matter how ideal you have the grow room.
so ironically it's the same as the OP's question

There is no reason to " turn " your buds purple or blue ...it comes down to genetics and pigments within strain .... Cooler temps ENHANCE it ... Some of this latent trait may pop out on its own. It doesnt make more potent bud , just a pretty one. I grew Dark Devil ...
Good smooth smoke but not hard hitting. Sweet and fruity.
That idea of food coloring is actually from some old growers that added some to watering and the plant would absorb systemically. But for no additional benefit.
Its mostly eye appeal .... You want purple .. Get bluberry strains , dark devil , red poison , killer purps and a whole shitload of others . If your plants have this trait it will show when the chlorophyll starts to break down.
This is a hybrid , i grew Blue Glue about a year ago. It colored out on its own , without cool temps. With reds and orange colors too.

I've flowered strains at near freezing temps, and they don't turn purple
if it's not in the genetics, it won't be there.
no matter what you do.
check out the pink lotus from Bodhi, I have a pheno that is nearly black.
also the purple wookie of bodhis is also fairly dark

I don't think a purple strain is in my top 20 as far as potency goes.
I've seen and smoked some beautiful purple strains though
