Harvest,, i hate trimming,, thank goodness i have a smaller grow cab, i would hate to trim a big outdoor grow, hahaha,,
rough trim, all fans off, trimmed bud leafs up to about 1/2 inch, most all the smaller stuff will go into butter and edible chocolates any way
check out the water roots in the sip res,, pretty cool,,
3 hangers on the left are chernobyl and the 3 hangers on the right are headband,

Very nice Tim. Buds all the way down. Impressed with how easy it looks. Buds look killer frost.

Might setup some sips soon myself. Bigger res? Not too sure, at least not with airstones. Do you use them, i forgot? Shallow res should have more oxygen i reckon. Will make my sips with full access to res:) anyways congrats on harvest, u can be proud

Passive, this intake was my first thoughts back when i started the wardrobe build,, i wanted an "S" shape the the intake to block light, so i used the dryer hose,
But what i really would like to do is use 4" plumbing drain pvc pipe,, and use elbows to form the "S" ,, then it would stay in place better, and be more compact

I do not use air stones, they are not required with the earthbox,, air stones are also not required when using the octopot
Alll sips are required to have a 1" air gap between the soil and the res,, IF your air gap does not have access to fresh air, then you must run air stones, but if your gap has a hole or port,, then air is pushed in and out as the res is filled and depleted,, for me not using air stones is one less thing i have to do,, one less thing plugged in,, after growing my moster tomato plants last summer in the sip it was clear to me that running an airstone was not mandatory but optional

On my next grow I will be using a new SIP its called
THE GROW BOX
https://www.amazon.com/Garden-Patch...007YPDTYI/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
http://www.agardenpatch.com/Garden-Patch-Grow-Box

the shape and size are virtually the same as the Earthbox i just used,, BUT it has a 4 gallon res instead of a 2.5 gallon res,,, and this way i dont have to build anything or try to find storage tubs the right size,, ( I already tried most are too tall for my box)
check out the picturesthe grow box.jpg the grow box 2.png

Also,, a big differance between the garden patch grow box Sip and the earthbox sip,, is I Will Not need an overflow tray, there will be virtually zero chance of a water spill or dribble, because the fill port is visable,, so as water is added to the sip we can see the water level inside, and then stop pouring water in when the res level reaches the top,, where as with the earthbox we can not see inside the res,, so we only know its full when water starts pouring out the over flow hole and into the over flow tray,, I have to empty the tray later,,and then clean up any water that may have missed the over flow tray,, SO by going to the new sip,, i cut out one extra step and elimanate water dribbles,,

The new sip looks nice, agreed that 2.5 g res looks small for that much soil. Also gives you access to the res if you figure out a way to lift the soil part and put it down without crushing the roots. Where did you get it?
Edit doh, amazon

Looks like a pretty shallow res, i figure (apart from airflow) the more surface area to volume on your res, the more oxygen.
many people toss an air stone down into the res, prettty easy to do,

from thier web site I linked above,

when i used the earthbox outside I flush the res occasionally by just letting the garden hose run down the fill pipe for several minutes,, kinda like a hempy bucket flush,,,
for me i have found that access to the res isnt really necassary,, but helpful , I have not had any strange growth in my res now on 2 grows, just clear water runs out , I do like the idea of the grow box and being able to see in,, to see the level of the water,, to see if roots are in the res,, its more for my entertainment more than anything

If you want to top water occiasionally, or put nutes in the res its good to hqve the flexibility. I just dont want to build myself into something i cant get out of.

I put a few things in the res this grow,, I added cal mag to the res almost every watering, and for a few waterings during flower i added big bloom liquid organic nutes,,,
i know a few people who feed nutes in the res with sips,, easy to do,, works like a DWC in that regard,,
If anything once your in a SIP you will want to stay,, not get out, hahha,, SIPs are all i will use from now on,, its just to darn easy, simple,
OH I never had to check the soil on this grow, I never had to use my soil mositure meter,, or wonder if it was time to water or not,, the sip takes all that away and does it for you

Ocean forest for the whole grow? And also, was the cal mag at regular dosage every feeding? I always have cal mag issues in flower with ffof

this grow i used FFOF as a base,, i added 1 cup of happy frog dry organic nute, and 1 cup of marine cuisine dry nute,, 1 cup domolite lime,, mixed in some old horse manure and some old chicken manure,,

yes full strength cal mag,, the cobs seem to demand lots of cal mag,, easy to ad to the res

So simple. Very nice work Tim. I agree the intake is a sore sight but it works and that's all that matters. What would you say was the average temp outside the wardrobe when it was closed?

Can't wait to see what yours yields are.. and I can't belive I haven't thought of using hangers like that! DOH! hahaha
last time i hung wire or string across , and it dipped in the center, and all the hangers wanted to slide to the middle,, such a pain
this time I thought,, hum,, why not use the chains that suspend the scrog frame,, and cut pvc pipe to go across the chains,, i had the pipe laying around from the sip fill pipe adaptor i made,, and Wah La, now the hangers are staying in thier places,, and all the buds have air around them,, so far so good,,
I just checked the buds hanging,, its really strange how Fast they shrink in mass,,

already thinking ahead to the next grow,, things I will change for next time
1. Maybe change up the intake port/ light trap
2. move the exhaust fan closer to the wall
3. build a new cob frame and install 2 cxa3070 cobs from the old panel for a total of 6 cobs pulling 350 watts
4. New Sip ,, going to try the Grow box instead of the earth box
