powering pc fans?

I had a Altronics 5 amp 12/24v power supply with a 8 amp hour standby battery. Could easily run 10 fans.

FWIW you can find 12v AC adapters ( Wall wort transformers) and connect a DC rectifier from radio shack and turn AC power into DC power.

i did mine custom made i had an old broken (regular) xbox and took the power cord cut it and hooked it up to my 12v pc fan and it works perfectly (don't do it on smaller fans.... it will blow up....... even though it was cool i don't suggest it seeing as shit causes fires)

Are you talking about just the cord? With no transformer? 'Cause that's just plain dangerous. If I understand you, you are hooking up a 12V fan to a 110V supply. That's asking for a house fire.

someone posted how to run them off the computers power by jumpering something to confuse something so the fans see something and turn on....but I wonder if all computers are the same inside? I guess you'd have to do a search unless someone has a link? I hope you mean the end after the transformer and I'm sure you took a multi meter and checked voltage output first right? saftey first...lol..:)

Got an old phone charger and some tape? You could snip off the end that plugs into your phone and connect the charger wires to your computer fan wires.

All PC power supplies supply 12V, along with 5V, and the newer ones also provide 3.3V.
