Maybe you should book a CAT scan. I've had lower gut problems for about 5 years and none of the doctors I've seen saw fit to get me a scan. I went gluten free for a couple months, no improvement. Lactose free for about the last 6 months, nada. About 2 weeks ago it came to a crisis bad enough we called an ambulance as we were snowed in and couldn't get out of the driveway at our acreage. Idiot doc told me I was constipated and gave me some laxative to drink and booked me in. An hour later the nurse comes in with IV antibiotics and an hour after that proved I wasn't constipated about 4 times an hour for the next 36 hours when they shipped me down to a hospital with the latest and greatest CAT scanner on the market. On the way back to the first hospital the medic who was transporting me in a van was radioed and told to divert to another hospital 2 hours away and something about appendix. His tewo way was breaking up so he called base on his phone and was told my appendix was badly inflamed. By 10 that night I woke up in recovery and spent the next 4 days on those damned antibiotics shitting myself dry.
Doc says he figures my appendix tried to blow about 5 years ago when my gut problems started but blew a small hole near its base and had been leaking into my gut ever since. Caused a 1x4cm abscess to grow on my bowel next to the appendix and if it ripped when he lanced it so it could drain I might have had to have a partial colonectomy and lose half of my colon and about 8" of intestine. Some scary shit. Operation went perfect so none of that and now I can eat dairy all I want and the fatigue is lifting tho I'm still very weak. Lost 10 lbs in the hospital off my already slim frame. When I left I was 129.5lbs and I'm 5'8". He said the profound fatigue I have was caused by my body always fighting the constant infection in my belly and how I never got peritonitis was a mystery to him and I must have a real strong immune system. I don't eat junk and take supplements like zinc, D3 and a host of others.
Two days after getting home last week got a horrible pain in my left kidney area that had me rolling around and howling my head off. called another ambulance and before it got to the hospital the pain levels went way up and then ebbed to nothing in a few min.. My first experience with a 4mm kidney stone that was noted on my scan but nobody told me or I would have toughed it out at home for another 20 min.
That same idiot doctor prescribed me NSAIDs for pain as the Demerol I requested might make me constipated. Had he looked in my file it is noted that I cannot tolerate them. Also gave me some prostate drug that also helps pass kidney stones. Stone was gone so WTF! It's main side effect is extreme hypo-tension which is ver low blood pressure. I already have hypo-tension that causes "nap attacks" or dizzy spells and he should have known that as well. Trying to kill me I swear!
Still have your appendix? Mine was fine for all my life but finally turned on me. Pretty rare issue but I'm living proof it can happen.
