Peltier Cooling

Has anyone yet to put a peltier device in a grow box for cooling control?
I was going to purchase one but wanted to see what people put together. It seems that it would cause a lot of moisture which would bring up humidity.

I've seen res coolers. But it will do nothing for air. Plus the hot side will create more heat then the cold side will create cold.

Yea i know how it works, just I've seen cooling units for drinks and what not, if you had the hot air dispensed out one end of the box with a heat sink and fan and a fan on the inside blowing the cold air around the box.......anything??

Not really. Air doesn't have the thermal mass to effectively be cooled by a peltier. Peltiers are much better at maintaining then lowering temps.

The airflow across the cold plate will need to be low, but the room will need 4 fold. (at least)

Now they are power hungry. They need a power supply (more heat).

I've actually had frost on one once. the cooler you can keep the hot side, the better the cold side will work. it's not easy to keep the hot side cool enough, you need a large heat sink and fan. they do eat up a lot of power constantly, and they don't hold temperature at all when turned off. but they are neat to play with, don't let anyone discourage you from giving it a try! just remember to let us know how it turns out and what you learn from it. in general, the smaller the project, the better these will work.

I've gotten frost on them too Ran a PID loop to hold a temp, for some tests a few years back. They don't cool air well.

Peltier coolers arent worth it.

You best bet is to use an Aquarium Chiller. Tho, a bit expensive. This could be the solution to you problem.

Thanks people, I solved the temp problem by "computer fans" and specifically placed air tunnels.
