How close should I run my 300 Watt Vero29 V7 (3) COBs to my canopy?

I'm growing in a 36 x 24 x 72" file cabinet. After speaking with Dan at timber grow lights. I have decided to run the lights without the 90° reflectors. He suggested this would allow me to run my lighting system closer to the top of my plants. I'm not sure if this means 12, 8, or 6 inches. I'm curious what height others are running who use no reflectors in their system. Thanks in advance for the replies.

I'm planning to keep my canopy level with Scrog and LST.

A $35 LUX meter would remove all doubt and guessing...just saying. I run my bare vero 29s about 8-10" for about 800 ppfd.

Are those accurate for LED lights? I'm a little confused on how these work. Can you point me in the direction of an article that explains it clearly and in simple terms? By "bare" do you mean without reflectors?
Thank you.

Bare is without any reflectors. I have found in a box or tent I don't need them...just me. I will look for a thread on the lux to par conversion.

Can't find thread. Lux times .0145 equals par...pretty close for warm LEDs
Thank you for looking..somewhere along my long and confusing path to LEDenlightenment I've read some light readers don't measure LED stuff properly.

I try to read the plants. I would put them close as possible without damaging them or compromising spread. I am bare COB too. One girl is too tall, compared to the rest. She's six inches from the light, no problems as of yet ( two week at this level.) Use the hand test, put the back of your hand as close to the COB as your plant is, if it hurts you, it'll hurt the plant.

May i ask something similar without posting a new thread?

My seedlings are 21 inches away from 4 cree cxb 3070's at 50 watts each 209 watts from the wall with cooling fans on heatinks. Is this too far away or too close for seedlings?

Its in a small tent with carbon filter taking up some space, left with 50cm by 50 cm or two feet by two feet.(for a four plant scrog) Its around 30- 32 degrees at seedling level as its hot outside here in this country.
I tried some more jiffys for some backup seedlings but the heat seemed too strong for the jiffys.
Anyway when should i lower the light and should i soon? my carbon fan is running non stop but doesnt seem to be cooling much as room temp is 30ish anyway..

I've heard about using the hand test and this is going to be my method to start. This I s my first grow so I'm trying to get as much advice & control as many silly variables as I can. Thank you all for the responses

The 'Hand test' for heat is only applicable HID.
How many cobs are you running in your space?
At the moment I have 5 x Bare Cobs at 250 watts , 50w/Square Ft and I'm vegging with light at 28" on full blast until plant gets used to it.
Then I'll veg at 18"
I'll lower light to 18"- 12" for flowering.
I have run the Cobs real close on first couple of runs - as close 6" away and have found the plants to grow short and squat with no signs of bleaching.

I Start Mine Out At 35 Inches. And When they Start To Stretch I Lower My Light To Control Stretch :hump:
