Slim fans, or ideas for fans to not hog tent space?

There is no real requirement for the fan amount for the canopy. You just want to feel a breeze around the whole canopy.

As for exhaust, I more than triple the requirements.

I think ^^^^^ nailed it. The fresh air is the key not how much air your blowing around in there. I use a 10" to move air but 250 CFM of exhaust for an 8x8x8 room and never had an issue. I never blow any air straight at the plant either and exhaust from the top of my hoods to mitigate heat. If you need the movement to keep the canopy cool then yes perhaps a small fan is not enough.

If we having an overkill exhaust dick swinging contest, I run a 350cfm extraction fan for the 2x4x5 tent, but none the less a 600hps, even in my enclosed hood, puts a ton of heat down onto a canopy that is less than 10" away, and I just dont feel comforatable with a single piddly cheap fan

one of these in the corner of a 4x4 seems to do a good job, two set in different corners crossing each other makes a damn hurricane

you don't want a fan blowing hard directly on your plants because it really speeds up transpiration, and makes them work harder, wasting energy they could be putting into getting bigger. a light breez is ok, a direct wind can really dry them out.

As of right now a box fan is near the top of my list, mainly because they are about 4" thick, and would move quite a bit of air over a broad thick canopy height, but Im just hoping its not to strong even on its lowest setting. As it doesnt ossilate, the plants would never get a break


A fan speed controller might work on that motor... I hooked my controller to a similar fan and it worked.

Its plenty powerful enough. Never had pm or rot.

When I close the doors to my cab I watch with it barely cracked and every plant is getting airm. You can watch stems and leaves dance all the way to the opposite side.

I think you are under estimating the fan and using note fannthan needed in yours.

I have had my temp/humidity gauge in every spot possible.


I can't point that fan directly on plants or it tears them up.

I got plenty of exhaust.

I've found that the plants don't particularly like a fan blowing on them, but that's just me . And yup you win the big fan contest, prize to be announced lol.

That is a name brand 8 inch clip on fan. If I put it on high it will shake the plants on the opposite end harder than I want. That fan has been running for 3 years now non stop.

No. I installed foam around the doors and where they meet. I drilled a hole where the lock goes. I use a three inch wood screw to draw the doors tight.

Way less obvious than a tent.
Another good option would be an old metal wardrobes (stand-alone closet). I had one for an upstairs apartment that had locking metal doors. It would be perfect. Just run exhaust directly out the back & the ducts would be completely hidden.

I actually only move 50 CFM for continuos ventilation in the winter. As temps warm my extraction kicks in on temp rise. It's all in what is required for what you have I think. If it's just fresh air that is needed and not temp control, as is my situation for the most part, a good thing to keep in mind is a 3 bedroom, average size home only requires about 120 CFM per hour to meet as HRAI req. .

I use the oscillating tower fan as it don't take up much room I'm gonna add a second one so 2 corners of my room will have air my room is 4 x 4 there are a lot of options out there i move mine around for now but soon it will have permenant shelfs instead of stapled cardboard boxes to sit on

I purchased 2 more oscillating fairly small footprint fans.

get a usb splitter they are cheap AF and you can run like 4 usb fans which are tiny and silent from one plug socket you could have them placed all around the tent and they would move enough air surely ? it's only supposed to be a breeze over the plants and if your 14" is only blowing 1 way 4 small fans scattered about will give better air flow because you can direct them at 4 different angles.

The 14" oscillates, which is why it takes up such a large footprint, which is why I made this thread, looking for a product recomendation or methods people have used to have a low footprint source of the breeze. The idea of the Honeywell fan mounted on the ceiling is a nice idea, but would be a tight fit in my 4x2 space with the sealed hood and ducting taking up most of the room.

But aparently this is a debate on how much of a breeze to give the plant.
