New grower.just popped seeds. Coco grow. Help appreciated

Hello friends,

As a complete newbie to growing I have joined the rollitup community with the hope that I can be helped by some of the great growers I have looked at in here over the years...
I managed to get my hands on some exclusive strains from Cali and I popped the seeds yesterday. I have my grow ready and was wondering if anyone would be great enough to help me with a few newbie questions as I go along!?
My first question is... I understand that the perfect ph balance for coco grows is approx. 5.8, when I first plant the seedling do I need to add any additional nute's straight away? or do I start by using balanced water only!? If so...for how long!? Etc etc. This is embarrassing I know but although I've been smoking many years, I have never grown before... I have some beautiful milkbone seeds and want to make sure I hit the ground running. Thanks for any help offered.

5.8 is a good pH for coco but I have found that varying the pH between 5.8 and 6.1 works best. I pre-charge my 70/30 coco/perlite mix with 1/4 strength nutes, pH'd to 6.0 or so. Never use just water. Are you using tap water or r/o? If r/o you will probably have to supplement with cal/mag.

Thanks for the reply Mick. Im using standard tap water. I also have the cups ready with 70/30 coco perlite ready for seedlings . So I should pre charge the medium with quarter strength nutes ready for seedling to be planted!? Your help is appreciated

You may want to research on Growweedeasy.com. That site has a lot of step by step tutorials for the novice grower.

We include a nutrient free watering day into our feeding schedule. The water is from the tap and is pH balanced to ~6.0. Whether you do this every other feed or something less frequent (1:3, 1:4) is up to you. The goal is to prevent nutrient abundance and reduce the likelihood of nutrient lock from occurring.
