Phenotype. Usually a bunch of seedlings and plants from one batch will show different phenotypes, different traits, etc might be more sativa or more indica, more or less trichs, different looking plants basically. Usually with second generation of seeds (f2) . f1's will be more uniform usually. Genotype is something else altogether. its the genes that express you can not see like rescessive genes and dominant genes. as far as i know anyway genotype is different to phenotype.
When someone says pheno hunt they are looking for a certain flavour, high, speed of growth or colour etc of a plant that in a bunch of seeds will eventually turn up. Usually in less than a pack of 20 seeds.Sometimes more such as apollo 11 genius which is rarer.
Eg cherry ak47 pheno hunt might take 20 or 30 seeds before you find a cherry ak47.
