Help me please to build my lamp

Hey guys,

would be nice if someone could help me with my problem. I will try to explain it as good i can.
I did build a new lamp for me, this lamp uses 2 different CCT/Colour (Vero 29 C / SE), each colour has it own driver (Hlg-320-c1050b).
My lamp uses 8 pcs 1750k cobs and 7 pcs 5600k cobs, like i said each colour on it own driver.
I did split the output of my driver into 2 outputs, beacuse 8 Veros C/69volt in series dont work... to much volt.
so i did split the output of the driver to run all 8 cobs on one driver. So now i have 4 pcs 1750k cob in series and this 2 time on one driver.
And this works without any problems.

Similar i did with the 7 pcs 5600k Cobs, i did split again the output of the driver into 2 outputs.
3 pcs in series and then the other 4 in a other series.
Now here comes my Problem, im not able to run all this 7pcs 5600 Cobs at once.
Like i said 3 pcs 5600 cobs are in a serie and the other 4 are in a other serie, and their is only one of this series shining at once. if i try to change something via the wago im able to let shine both series but not at the same time.

I will post 2 links to pictures, with more informations. would be nice if someone can help me.
If something is unclear please ask me, i will try to make it more clear.

omg , that would be a big shit... Then my plan, with the driver config failed hard :/ , with that problem(change driver) i could live but then i need to change something with the paths/ cables. All my cables are runing in the aluminum profiles its like impossible to remove them :/
I dont know how to change bahhhhhhhh . Or where i should start....

Props to you for making this light! Been waiting for someone to throw the superred veros in a light with separate blueish cobs.

As for your 7 cob problem: just throw another cob with the same voltage on your second string and you should be alright. Even if its not 5600k it should light up. It depends on what level of ocd you suscribe to... Are they all vero Cs?

Also would love to see how they do on ur fancy meter and some comments on how it does for real bud.

yeah it must be a problem to have the parallel loads unbalanced like this with 3 on 1 run and 4 on the other.have you tried just adding 1 more cob to the string of 3 yet?

i would think you would want to balance them anywayto avoid issues with thermal runaway ?

Are they all vero Cs?

Yes all Veros are the C version.

Also would love to see how they do on ur fancy meter and some comments on how it does for real bud.

By the way, the 1750k cob makes a really nice/strange light, it looks light pink / white and a bit red/orange

I just bought allready 2 new drivers(Hlg-185-c700b) this morning, they will arrive tomorrow. I will just install this new drivers at the 3 cob series and the 2nd one for the 4 cob series. Then this both driver will share the same 1-10 Volt dimmer, so i can dimm both series with one dimmer.

So now i have a new question, is it possible that my 2 different drivers can be both connected to the same grounding location at the frame of the lamp?

Can they share the grounding screw/location on the frame ? I think, yes or?

Or does every driver need his own grounding screw/location on the frame of the lamp?i think, no or?

Could someone tell me that please.

Maybe some kinda resistor would work, but then again the cobs change voltage as you dim and i think the resistor wont so might work badly.

I know you generally dont put your grows on RIU but i would absolutely love to see this in action. I was thinking of making a similar build but with the 2 spectrums in paralell on the same driver and heat sink bar, to be able to switch between the 2 spectrums using simple switches, red, blue (or maybe 4000k) or both.

I have a question here ,If the driver is grounded and is housed in an aluminium enclosure (like HLG) and driver is in contact with the aluminium frame surely that grounds the entire fixture ?

It depends i would say, if you have ELG serie then i would say yes. But with HLG serie it seems to be no, this case. im not sure about that, here at our forum some people(robincnn for example) said no to your question.

I see I thought the drivers where chromate conversion coated not anodized. I wounder if you could just sand a section on the underside of the driver.

Hey,

yeah my light work over some green, but at the moment i cant say much about the red, beacuse my plan was to start to start first with dominant blue spectrum. Because i have some haze and i thought the strech would be to much with red spectrum, so my red cobs are very low atm. After 2-3 weeks flower(strech) are over i will turn red cob to max and will dimm the blue ones.

My room has not so much height...

This is my spectrum for growth stage, it is 5600k to max and a little bit of red(1750k) cobs

I noticed that my haze dont do much strech with this spectrum in compare to 3000k/90 cri. But im only 5 days with this spectrum in flower so maybe it will change, but i dont think so.

After Strech is over i will change spectrum like this, maybe a little less blue part.



As soon i can say more over the red leds, i will share. But if im honest im afraid to post picture from plants:/
Maybe i will do, i need to do some research

What does it cost to build a light that size or what it cost you if you dont mind kinda been trying to learn how.to build.my own by watching youtube vids as in not real good with this kinda stuff well hope it works good i ordered a diy kit from.timber with 4 citizen cobs for.my.first but want to be able to build.from.scratch well good luck with your light nice build

Yea i like them so far, like you allready noticed im a big fan of red leds. @alesh pointed them in vero thread out, thanks for that alesh
but my final judgment comes after i finish 1 or 2 complete growth with them. Then i can compare them with my old results.
I will share on a way my experience then.

Those 3 circled areas seem to have and exposed metal contact that slightly protrudes from the case. I wonder if these points would cause a grounding bond to a frame. This brings me to another question with involves the fact that bare aluminium almost instantly forms an oxide layer which is non-conductive, so maybe mounting the driver to the frame with serrated washers would cause the best low resistance bond. Need to buy a multi meter and test resistances.
