The Democratic establishment and Republican establishment are absolutely on the same side when it comes to economics because they are both bought by the same donors who have the same interests. Financial institutions fund both Democratic and Republican campaigns. $21 million to Obama, $61 million to Mitt in the 2012 election. They spend money on both sides to ensure a voice in policy. They don't spend that money getting them elected for nothing..

We had an entirely blue government for 2 years when Obama got elected, if the Dem's actually wanted they could have pushed through a progressive economic policy. But financial institutions funded Obama's presidential campaign, so he did their bidding. He could have got universal healthcare, but he didn't want to because his donors didn't want it. He could have enacted legitimate financial regulations as the American people were screaming to the rooftops for accountability but he didn't. Look at the contrast, what Trump is doing right now. Do you think he or any of the Republicans in congress are taking progressive opinions into consideration? Look what they do when they have complete control and look what we do when we have complete control. Embarrassing. Shameful. Disgusting.
