Cannabis Report Recommendations Would Delay Legalization To 2018 Or 2019

I am not sure who is saying it will be delayed? some media person? or some cop? This is all speculation. I do not expect the full rec program to roll out until 2018 anyways.

Time line is release the new rules and regs some point 2017, gives big business time to get applications ready, then implementation 2018. People just love to make shit up for news

Lol, fake news comes to Canada :) Some lawyer's interpretation and you're right speculation. It'll be 2018 late or 2019 unless they start announcing something soon. They had said this spring but who knows. Thing is once they decide on a system/structure, they need some time for the politics/laws, setup the infrastructure to run/support it, hire and the like. Government moves slow so late 2018 early 2019 is not far off.

@VIANARCHRIS I don't see your post?
I'm not sure what happened there...just a big blank spot I'm sure it had absolutely nothing to due with the number of joints I've smoked today. lol.
I was commenting on your post about Tweed buying a dispensary. I'd really like to learn details and see if we can't use it to demand HC either license the dispensaries with the existing owners or shut Tweed down for violating their licensing contract. If nothing else, it would legitimize the dispensary retail concept in the public's eye, imo.

if dispensaries can legally sell herb then we can
That's my take as well. If you do it legally. Once dispensaries are brought into the legal system, you, me and the old lady next door can open store front retail sales, imo. No different than opening a liquor store...follow the rules and you're golden. Street sales or selling out of your garage will still be banned, of course, but there will be opportunity for those looking to go legit. IMO.

But wait... if rec legal doesn't come in June, how will the LPs survive?

Won't they whip their Gov't puppets up and get it done so they can sell their garbage to the unsuspecting public?

I'd doubt they can be financially supported by a more knowledgeable and ever-decreasing patient/client base?

Thoughts?

I'm hoping some fail. We are being optimistic to think legalization will roll out this summer. We will get the framework and most likely a date, but it won't be June 2017 imo. I think the LP's that have deep pockets or confused investors will hang on and scoop up the ones who can't survive. Medicinal sales are plummeting with every grow licensed issued and the smaller or financially stretched LP's will start to crumble. I predict less than 10 mega-LP's when it's all said and done and hopefully dozens of ma & pa 'craft growers' supplying the market.

Someone told me tweed is now 7 LPs deep, with 35,000 patients...don't know if it's true....
that's a lot of crap...
i am curious as to when prices will come back to earth. if they lose out on a lot because we CAN grow, they might shake their heads and try to work WITH us

I don't see rec taking to 2019. I think we'll see a start date of jan. 2018. If they bring in legislation this spring, I can't see them waiting 18 months to implement it. The waiting game is ridiculous already....

Most likely mid to late 2018 at the earliest. My brother is a manager at an employment agency that has a lot of cross border truck drivers. He had a 3 hour seminar two weeks ago on the time line for rec as it will greatly effect cross border workers. They were told 2018-2019

Basically HC is waiting on a device to test for cannabis impairment, thats one of the major things they wanna have nailed down before they roll out rec. They still have to come up with a base # to set as the legal limit. All of this was part of the discussion

You could be right,...I guess we wait. The impairment device delay is questionable though. They already exist and are in use in some states and countries. Problem is they test for the presence of cannabis and some give % of thc but none indicate level of impairment. The only real way to test is a roadside walk-a-straight-line routine, imo.
And then you ask yourself how big a problem driving after smoking is going to be AFTER legalization compared to today. How many closet tokers are out there waiting until it's legal before they use or drive high? If it was a major problem, we'd be seeing the results now. I fear they will come up with some arbitrary thc % and say everyone is impaired beyond that point. I wake up with more thc in my system than any number they come up with. It's gonna be interesting.

No no what you're trying to say here is that they are looking at every scenario where they can fine/bleed money out of you for using weed that they sold you. This is their next cash cow and they will have their blood money, he ex cops and politicians running the LP's will have their meal ticket.

LOL if thats true. Fucken abysmal numbers. Keep buying up those companies with no one to buy from them. Itll be at least 2018-2019 before rec at all
They likely make more money shipping their product internationally (legally btw) than they do from Canadian consumers, they are not in any way hurting for income.

And who do they ship to exactly? Do the math, the numbers arent there for them in the medical game. And between rec being a ways down the road and them spending money aquiring companies with little to no client base, now increases their overhead. The bubble is gonna burst, and they can only lie for so long to investors. Multiple thousands of pounds of garbage weed cant keep forever. And with a high overhead, is gonna have to go at a loss. Who wants pesticide sprayed schwag at WELL above market value?

Some researchers think cannabis can replace maybe 10-50% of current drugs. Producers who make good medicine will do very well. The capitalists who are just throwing money at a plant are going to lose to growers with compassion and skills in the long run. But they will pump their shit hard in the mean time.
