Next year I will do Carnaval in Rio, but even if it is better as most people say, I can't imagine having a better experience. I don't speak Portuguese and I don't know many Brazilians. On the other hand, I have a bunch of Colombian friends and Spanish is my first language. The crowd tonight at Noche de Tambo was insane. Plaza de La Paz was the venue and it was arranged in concentric circles (tubular alloy barricades) with the stage in the middle, the dance area surrounding it and on the outside of the outer ring was just about a couple million Colombians dancing to Cumbia. It's still going strong, but I was starting to make old man noises by eleven from back pain. The dance area was flowing counter clockwise and I talked my way into the stage area so I had an awesome vantage for photos with the stage as backlight.

A couple of drunk chicas followed me up to my room and knocked on my door and told me "la noche no ha terminado, vuelve a bailar." So now I have Daniela in my room and she's snoring. I hope Batalla de Flores is as much fun tomorrow night.

My hotel is 115k pesos per night. A flight from Tijuana to Bogota was $240 round trip. I have been eating really well far cheaper than anything I have seen in San Diego. Also, Barranquilla is a thousand times safer than Rio. You might be skeptical about that given history and what would seem common knowledge, but I assure you this much is absolutely true. Barranquilla is one of the safest cities in South America (safest by far in the country) and the national police send tens of thousands during Carnaval. Rio on the other hand is one of the most dangerous places in the world, especially for a tourist.

Still, a smart tourist in Rio may be safer than a dumb one in Killa (nickname for Barranquilla).

Some certainly prefer, but I think generally very few would exclude, how much they like you depends on your demeanor, looks, wallet, presentability, etc.

hopefully the dnc has learned from it's ways, and they put forward someone the majority of people can get behind, or they face another loss in 4 years, and who will we be mad at then?

"Lowest approval ratings" is Bernie Baby bullshit and anyone who didn't vote for her essentially voted for Trump.

Barranquilla, Colombia. I agree though Brazil is great. For the past week it has been Cumbia blasting on the streets to like 4am. I can't even brush my teeth without shaking my ass. I go out with my camera and people demand their picture taken. The dancers are incredibly fine. Smoking herb on the street in front of cops who are dancing too. Men outnumbered by women who are looking for someone to dance with. Cleaning crews come out to clean up between 4am and 8am when it starts right back up. Street vendors with amazing flavors. It just officially started today and I have it on good intel this is bigger than Rio's carnaval for the past few years.

But voting for the better candidate was paramount at this crucial moment, now look at what we have to deal with and impeaching the orange turd might not be such a great idea if we're left with Pence.

Human and Civil rights are being torn apart now imagine with Pence in charge I'm just hoping they'll the Dems will have something left to repair in 2020.

Brazil is over rated and offers little to the avid scuba diver. Also, Colombia weed is pretty good as far as buying a sack of regs goes.

TBH, I would take a Colombiana over a Brazileira in most cases too. But if you're a punter, nothing beats Brazil.

I've always wanted to go somewhere that I could get sacks of shitty weed really cheaply and just make a shitload of extracts and to post back.

Bahia is an amazing state for scuba and sport fishing, etc... one of the best in the world.

it's actually cold, full of current and has a reputation for terrible dive guides. it's the only place where regular recreational diver die every year. also, while it may be a good place for spear fishing due to having plenty of good size semipelagics, the reefs are not at all spectacular
