Possibly a silkie or brahma(spelling?).Here's a couple pics of my chicks.
This first one was sold to me as an orpington . she has feathered feet and every orpington I look at doesn't. Any ideas what she may be. View attachment 3896061View attachment 3896061
So the ducks are housed with the chickens? I wanted to get some ducks but didn't really want to build another pen.Seems like it's been 3-4 weeks with the pic problems.
I added three ducks to the mix and getting three eggs a day. I'm in CA. They are bigger than the chicken eggs and taste pretty damn close. I feed them laying pellets like I do the chickens. Of course the occasional strawberry tops or cut up veggies always make them happy.
Yeah the silkies stay pretty fuzzy all over and have a crazy hair do. Never owned them as chicks so i don't know if the wild hair shows as babies or not. Thanks jimmyjonestoo for your thoughts.
After looking at all the Brahma chick pictures I could find. Lol.. I'm about 98% sure the two orpington are actually light brahma's
Here's a couple pics of what I think they are.View attachment 3897326

What did you have to give for that coup? Thinking I will be adding chickens come spring and have been looking at those. What I've seen is kinda pricey. At least there seems to be a good amount of knowledge to lean on, lol. Here's the store bought coop. It was on clearance . lol. I figured it would work for a couple bantams . the only problem it's little and low to the ground. Perfect size for my boy to get in..lol. View attachment 3896764

It says it's for six adult chickens but I'm using it for the banniesWhat did you have to give for that coup? Thinking I will be adding chickens come spring and have been looking at those. I believe cedar chips are a no-no around chickens.Thank ya! Good to know.. I'm using cedar chips on the floor and straw in their boxes but probably will all be straw the next cleaning. I'm heating with one inferred bulb. It gets -30°f for a week or two in February. What would be a good/safe heat source during late winter. ?
Why? Has chickens on the bag I got of compressed chips. Says it's dust free and repells bugs. Is it because they can hold moisture?I believe cedar chips are a no-no around chickens.
Just looked into it. Small amounts are fine . apparently the oilsof pine and cedar release hydrocarbons and phenol the mess with the birds respiratory. Good to know, thanks for the heads up.I believe cedar chips are a no-no around chickens.
