How much wattage for cfls in a 2x4 tent?

Wanting to replace my VEG light with something more effiecient/less heat.

I've never grown CFL or flouro before,but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than LED so it looks like a good option.

I'm just stuck on wattage. If I just need it for a 2x4 tent, how many watts per sq/f, should I get the reflector style or are t5 fixtures better?

use 100watt daylights, they are 23/26 watss each, i use 7 of them for veg in a 3ft wide x 2ft deep x 7ft height space, then if you want you can add 60watter 13/14 watt for flowering in the same place for flowering

go for a 2x4 quantum 485 in that tent for the win. I did and I got the bomb! still using it to veg dozens at a time to bushes in buckets now, 8 yrs later no issues. cfl's will leave you wanting forever.

but for a person who wants to keep under the radar, and no really have to worry about heat issue and the eye's in the sky, cfl works best, i have that setup and been growing for a while, whole setup is $150 at the most. How much is that setup? just curious

If you are planning on using multiple cfl's have you thought about led light bulbs, the sort you can buy in most stores? More lumens per watt and less heat than CFL. Just another option for you to think about.

I run 350 total watts worth of about 12 CFLs and 4 18" t8s surrounding plant in a 2x4x4 2nd grow harvested first with around 200w CFL and pulled about an ounce super bummed so I added all my veg 6500k lights in and now have a 4:1 ratio 2700:6500 and am mid harvest second plant cut all top colas pulled about 2 ounces then let smaller colas finish chopping this week should have close to 6 oz from 2nd plant and adding 150 more watts

I just bought a 4 pack of 65w/30 equivalent 6500k cfls for 30 bucks prime. should have them tomorrow. my females r 12 days old now and theyre doing great.

Looking good!!! How high are you keeping the multiple bulbs from the plants. I'm keeping them 3in away or so. But the nodes are so tight and the leaves are getting big. Like almost touching the soil ha. Should I move the bulbs up so they stretch a bit?

About this high I have 3 in there now just 1 bulb for each plant. And side lighting i use more often than i don't but here they are now

I mixed those with cfls .They make cfls more power packing lumen penetration shoulder to shoulder Led and Cfl . Because I never grew clones and I got these clones to survive for now off Active oxygen compost teas
How do I grow with those 9 w bulbs im mix a big cfl

I need a cfl 26 watt blue and 26 watt red and . I will swap plants every few days . I got decent temps what will a 125 watt with reflector do? I need one that won't tilt and hang I may go led instead haven't fully decided
