are the areas the same? if so, wouldnt dimming the clw to 800W total with a kill-a-watt (or whatever the cree rig pulls from the wall w/drivers) be more fair?

also whats with the extra lights in the cree zone?

Grabbing a stump for this one. I've run a couple of clw veg units over the years, solar flares and storms. Nice, hardy units, did the job well. The ladies look healthy and happy. This will be nice. I reserve the right to cast my vote just yet.

Look at the leafs, the white light makes them much happier. Blurple always seem sad and sometimes look overwatered

Agreed the plants are flourishing under the white spectrum, like you say the Blurple plants look kinda droopy and sad, it's almost like the plants are not fully awake like they get near to lights off (end of day cycle) and at the beginning of lights on (start of day cycle).

Blurple has a place in leafy green production like lettuce... But fruiting/budding crops like canna do better under full spectrum, I have personally witnessed it and if you look at commercial glasshouse facilities you will see crops like pepper/tomato tend to be grown under as much sun as possible and really only use artificial lighting for supplementation purposes and to bump up DLI.

as has blurple! ive got no dog in the race theyre both great setups. there is actually a lot of white in those CLWs - is it enough? we will see!

The way I've heard it is from @Greengenes707 light QUANTITY + light quality = The better light. Meaning that both are important but If you consider that the quantity and quality are pretty close on the cobs compared to the narrow colors used on a blurple... The results have already been shown. Of course if the blurple a keep getting more and more efficient we might see them pass up the cobs one day. We know COBs get 1.2g/w easy but it takes a skilled grower to get .8g/w from blurple regardless of their umol/s.

Well, regarding efficiency, I think we are likely to see more efficiency from COBS than from blurple type LEDS, I could be wrong but I think COBS have a wider application useage and therefore more money to be made from them.
