I switched soils 4 times my first year. Then I learned to not overwater. LolI've been buying packaged soil blends for a long time. I've never blamed the the new soil for pests, wanted to //////
but will admit when I used those little pop up peat moss starter plugs the gnats seemed to be born over night with those, and since then I use rapid rooters with nary a gnat in my garden.
could flood a bucket of new soil with water and see what floats, I did, saw nothing move ever, maybe eggs, proly not, I dunno. be sure nice to be able to lay the blame on the soil instead of my controls though...
If you have ants around your plants it is definitely a possibility.......Yeah I just had a lil gnat problem, all good now. I was spending way too much time on the internet, somehow convinced myself I had root aphids lol.
Some species of ants share a symbiotic relationship with aphids. Ants are cool
They reward you for doing well by out growing your space. No ants, no microscope, plenty paranoia. I'm learning slowly.
One of those plants was male and was tossed. The other one is week2 flower and is a freakin too big.
I have purchased a couple bags of happy frog and a few bags of ocean forest. From two different local stores. If you paid extra for your ffof .....it definitely came with bugs .....if you paid normal price ....it's your fault
